Catagory Updates

Help - I may be glitching! My catagory updates are failing!

I back up etc my AW program every Sunday. Last week when I did the "there is a new catagory list" - it glitched. I got an error message saying it failed and to contact adminastrator. I noticed 2 of my auctions were corrupted. No shipping specific page and when I tried to duplicate the lots - the shipping page was still missing. This week when I tried to update the catagory list - got the same error message.

Help!

HI

YOu should contact tech support

info@auctionwizard2000.com

Be sure to scan your hard drive for errors and defrag. Run a backup as well.

Tech support will be able to get the category list to install

Re: Catagory Updates new [re: Starsong9]

I had the same message and aw2k asked me to restart the pc which i did.

Upon opening the aw2k database I discovered that the damager caused by this 'category change' is huge.

All items specifics of all old records (about 38,000) have been changed and the changes are not correct.

Our listings in the 280 category opf magazine back issues got items specifics that do not pertain to that category. Instead they pertain to books in general or maybe a specialized type of books.

So all my item specifics are lost. That is big.

I may be able to restore from yesterday, but without a correct application and database structure, that will be futile as I cannot restore the old database structure.

Already emailed Thom and am waiting for answer.

This type of updates should not be advertised as merely 'category' updates. Theyu are major database restructuring updates which require extreme care and preparation to avoid great damage..

A software like Endicia's Dazzle automatically backs up all files and databases when doing this kind of update. I wonder why thsi cannot be doen with aw2k as well.

Hi Peter,

I update my category list every week and have not experienced the same error message.

The category update does not in reality alter the entire database structure. It changes the data in the category or Item Specifics but it does not change the entire database.

I would suspect your database was most likely already damaged prior to installing the Category list update.

Upon update last week, I too received that error message.
Actually came and went so fast didn't really know if that is what I saw till I saw this post!
However, as far as I can tell I haven't had any damage to the item specifics or database, just saying.....

Hopefully those that did, where ever the changes came from will be resolved easily and satisfactorily.
