ShippingServiceCost/SalesTaxPercent

I'm trying to relist two large furniture Lots as local pickup (they were local pickup on the original listings, too). I keep getting API errors:

Error Code 37: Input data for tag <Item.ShippingDetails.ShippingServiceOptions.ShippingServiceCost> is invalid or missing.

So I put $0 in the Shipping and Additional Shipping fields under Shipping Service, but then I get this:

Error Code 17524: To specify non-zero value for the tag <SalesTaxPercent> you must set "true" for the <CheckoutDetailsSpecified> tag.

I collect Calif sales tax from Calif customers, but I don't see what this has to do with these listing errors. I haven't changed anything to do with sales tax. I'm using my regular eBay Stores Profile, and the listing dialog shows the tax rate as usual.

Just now, I tried for about the 8th time, and instead of getting stopped by the errors right away, it looked like they listed (went thru the whole process including the count-down of the delay between listings), but then I got the sales tax errors at the end. Grrrr.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Sue

Re: ShippingServiceCost/SalesTaxPercent new [re: tictictic_OnEbay]

Sue,

Be sure you double check after you list the lot that the "0" doesn't show up as Free shipping> I dont' think it does on Local pickup..

The "0" worked and got you past the shipping details. The second error you just saw was just standing in line :o)

As far as the sales tax, on the Lister window, try using the other option which is "Use your eBay preferences" and see if that will work.

If it doesn't let me know and we will try something else.

Just so you will know,, I think something is up with eBay. I have had trouble listing as well. And it is Shipping details too. I have four Auction lots that have given me fits since yesterday. I finally got them to list a little while ago.

Judy, Sue:

I too have had trouble listing on eBay since last evening. I have 9 different lots that are relists so it's not something new in them that I've done incorrectly. Yet these 9 just won't list. Everything else listed fine and I noticed that AW2K ran a lot slower when listing those that did make it. It seems you are right Judy, eBay is having problems. I'm wondering if the problem is with a few servers - I've noticed that for quite a while now I no longer end up with similar auction ID numbers - they seem to be spread over 3 or 4 different servers. Could be a server problem then if some are and some aren't listing.

I'll try listing the reluctant ones again later this evening - they are store items so I'm not worried about hitting a specific closing window.

Re: ShippingServiceCost/SalesTaxPercent new [re: AquilaStamps]

Garry,

The failed listing errors are quite random.. Some are shipping details, some are additional item shipped details (of which the failed auction lots did not have flat rate so that field is not applicable) and numerous other error codes.

I think I tried listing the four lots from yesterday about 9 or 10 times before they listed. They were also relists...

It took a while to log into eBay. And when updating, numerous times even though auctions have sold, eBay is not returning the End of Auction information in the normal timeframes. Today it was over 30 minutes before the Auction lot information was released.

Something is up that is for sure..

Hi Judy,

I got your reply. I'll try and list these two things again tomorrow. Will post about the results. Thanks.

Re: ShippingServiceCost/SalesTaxPercent new [re: bluepennylady]

I decided to create a new Profile for large furniture items going to my eBay Store. I paid attention to every detail of the Profile and the listing form. I checked "Use tax table from My eBay," and I selected Local Pickup (as the default in the Profile and also in the listing window). I didn't get a sales tax error, and the items did get listed, but I did get these two informational warnings:

Warning Code 17523: All Shipping Details have been dropped because item will not be shipped.

Warning Code 17503: The shipping info is not applicable to Digital Delivery items or shipping location "None" is provided on item level. <ShippingServiceOptions> container is ignored.

The Paypal logo doesn't show up (which is good; I noted No Paypal in the description), but it's still there for my other auctions/BINs. However, the auctions do not say Local Pick-Up. Don't know what I did/didn't do to cause that.

Won't know if the sales tax chart in My eBay handles things properly until something sells.

But............other mysteries ensued......

I also just now relisted a couple of offline auction Lots as Store items, and I got the sales tax errors again. I had thought this sales tax thing had something to do with Local Pickup being selected for the large furniture items, but apparently not. These are two little items with ordinary shipping options, listed in my regular Stores Profile. I didn't change anything other than switching Profiles.

Here's the error (I edited out the HTML code) as it popped up in Notepad (why do some show up in HTML and others display online?):

Listing Errors and Warnings for Auction Profile tictictic STORE
Error/Warning Message:
API Error Code 17524: To specify non-zero value for the tag SalesTaxPercent, you must set "true" for theCheckoutDetailsSpecified tag.

The Listing dialog shows "Specify single tax rate....Sales Tax 7.75% in CA." I haven't changed this setting for years. Did eBay change the site regarding sales tax?

I switched it to "Use tax table from My eBay", and the two Lots listed just fine.

Sue,

The warnings should not keep the auction lot from listing.. So did the auction lots with the warnings go ahead and list. Or did the Auction lots with the warnings also have errors as well. Meaning the sales tax error.

On the Lister window for the profile which the Sales tax was the cause of the error, did you check the Sales tax rate and be sure there was a rate in it as well as the State selected? I know you did but I am just double checking.

Re: ShippingServiceCost/SalesTaxPercent new [re: bluepennylady]

The two small items resulted in the sales tax errors, and I couldn't list them until after I changed the setting to "Use sales tax chart from My eBay."

For the initial attempt, the Lister window was exactly as it's been for years -- "Specify single tax rate....Sales Tax: 7.75% in CA."

I just relisted another Store item with that same setting and didn't get any errors.

I have only one Sales Tax Profile, and every single one of my Auction Profiles specifies that tax profile. So this has to be something in the Lister window (which I doubt) or at eBay's end.

The eBay site has been a little screwy in the last couple days, so.....??? Search results frequently (after hitting the Back button) get arranged in a funny way -- images bunched up and info missing. Have to hit Refresh to get back to normal. Maybe they've got some sort of API problems with the sales tax stuff.

Re: ShippingServiceCost/SalesTaxPercent new [re: tictictic_OnEbay]

Sue,

My Sales tax on the Lister window are set like your were. 7.8 KS.. I haven't had any listing errors for the sales tax. Now shipping options is another matter entirely. I can't recall ever having this many listing errors or having to try to list Auctions so many times,, at least in years anyway.

I really think something is up with eBay. If you open up three or four browser windows and use the same search criteria on eBay, different results will appear in each window. The other day when I logged into My eBay, all the links running down the left side were completely different.

Then about four hours later, the links went back to the normal links. Meaning the link names changed back to normal. And I am not participating in the My eBay Beta testing. Didn't like it.. So it wasn't that..

Did you check the Auctions you listed that were local pickup? Did they list correctly and all the options are displayed correctly on eBay?

Re: ShippingServiceCost/SalesTaxPercent new [re: bluepennylady]

They look ok except, like I mentioned, they don't say Local Pickup, but since my descriptions cover that, I thought I'd just let it be, but then I noticed down in the section called Shipping and handling, it says "Ships to United States," so I revised them to show the Local Pickup in the header section.

In the Revise dialog, it was set to "Flat: same cost to all buyers", instead of the Local Pickup that I selected in AW. So something's not right. I bet we see an update from Thom soon.

Sue,

I actually took the liberty of contacting Thom concerning the issue ( hope I didn't overstep my bounds if I did, I am sorry)

Email Thom. I have provided him with the details I have on hand but it would be best if he had everything directly from you.

Re: ShippingServiceCost/SalesTaxPercent new [re: tictictic_OnEbay]

Sue,

I changed my sales tax preferences around in the Lister window yesterday and everything listed.. But you know, I got a phone call and then intercom to the front register and completely forgot to check the auction and be sure the sales tax appeared okay on eBay.

I better do that. I just now realized I didn't check it

Yep, keep us updated!!!
