It's been awhile since I came across something I couldn't figure out between Ebay and AW2K, but here goes...

Ebay offers the ability to set a "promotional shipping rule". In my case, I'm set to offer free shipping on combined orders of $25 or more. My ebay preferences are set to "on".

The confusing wording in the ebay prefs make it seem as if you can set this for all of your listings automatically - but not really. Each listing has a check box of "on/off" if the item is "eligible" for the promotional discount. Changing the ebay setting to "on" simply means that the rule will apply to all ebay listings that are checked as eligible.

I assumed that the AW2K setting for "combined shipping discount based on my ebay preferences" would also turn on this rule for each listing - but alas, it doesn't.

So my problem is this - I want to use this ebay feature, but all of my aw2k listings have the option turned "off" by default. I can go into each listing on ebay and edit this - but thats very time consuming with 500+ listings (even if I used the bulk editor).

Is there anyway to set the "promotional shipping rule" to "on" in my AW2K listings?

The "Combined shipping discount based on my eBay preferences" only activates the basic shipping rule. Not the promotional.

In short, there is not currently a setting for the promotional shipping rule or rules. Auction lots must be edited.

Email AW2K tech support with the suggestion. And I'll pass along to them you made an inquiry about it. I know it has been mentioned a time or two but not often. So it will not hurt to bring it up.

Now I know a couple of users have created a promotional shipping rule profile in AW2K but you have to wait until the auction lots are listed again and move them to that profile. And I'll have to "think" about how we actually accomplished successfully activating the promotional rule.... Hummm oh to have a younger under 50 mind which could recall better

Actually, I'm trying to list about 150 store items right now and I don't see how to get AW2K to do it.

The real problem is that it really has to be all or nothing because buyers won't understand that some items are "elible" while others are not. I was already planning on editing my existing items....but I was really hoping for a way to avoid having to do the old "list then edit" thing.

AW2K has completely spoiled me. I expect to list hundreds of items in a few minutes and have them all perfect. LOL

As soon as the server is done doing a backup and rebuild, I'll poke around. I helped someone else here a few months ago. And I honestly don't remember what we did but we figured out how to do a workaround. Man I sure wish I could remember exactly what we did. I should not have slept since then. Perhaps I would have had a slim chance of remembering..

Or maybe I should consider writing down these type of things.. Nay,, why do that when I can spend hours trying to recall what I did

But I will look.

I am spoiled too.

I wrote Thom about the problem. I think he thought the same thing you and I thought - that it was covered in the "apply shipping discounts" check box in aw2k.

He says he's going to look into it.

To clarify exactly what I found....

In the SYI screen there is a header called "Combined Shipping Discounts" - under it are TWO options with check boxes:

One box says "Apply my flat shipping rule"
The other box says "Apply my promotional shipping rule"

The AW2K toggle ONLY switches the first one and not the promotional shipping rule.

Far as I can tell from my tests, there's no way to set it by default on Ebay.

Hopefully this is something easily fixed in AW2K...

I am glad you found that out too as that is what I finally decided.

I noticed the two options teaching an "Basics of Selling" eBay class just two days ago. And I was going to email you --- and my over 50 mind completely forgot
