Will someone help me understand how to clean up?

Not sure how to put this. When I look at my grid, I see alot of older auctions that I just dont need anymore. What is the general "after auction" routine for you guys?

Do you just leave every sold and shipped auction forever? So when you click on Grid View, you see all of your old auctions? Do majority use the filter to hide them? What's the census on this? Thanks so much

HI David,

Great question. And I apologize for not responding sooner. Yesterday was my hubby's birthday party and there was company here until late. Then the hostess, (me) collapsed

Yes you can certainly eliminate old Auction lots from the database. Easy as pie.

There are two options. You can choose to "Purge" which means to delete forever and the records would never be retrievable.

Or you can "Archive" when means they are tucked away in another folder should you ever need them ..

YOu should do a backup prior to Archiving or Purging records. And I always recommend to burn a DVD of the entire AW2K folder so you always have a full copy if you ever need it.

Go to Start > Programs > Auction wizard 2000 > Archive and Purge

On the Archive and Purge utility dialog box, you choose which function you want to use.

Either one has options in the Advanced options. So click open Advanced.
Choose the date that you want to remove

If you want to eliminate email, invoices, Inactive Inventory Items, Auction lots, Images.

It is not a good idea to Archive images. That takes up a ton of room in the archive folder.

After you have setup the criteria for what records you want to remove from the database, click OK and let AW2K work.

Does that help?

yes that makes perfect sense. thanks!

now, let me ask you this, I"m recently trying to get involved with bonanzle. a little google search of "bonanzle auction wizard 2000" takes me to one of YOUR bonanzle listing, which has the "template by auction wizard 2000" at the bottom. how are you using AW2k with bonanzle? are you exporting your inventory in csv, and if so, how do you deal with the image links?

thanks so much

David

Wellllllll,

I imported my eBay store listings which imported the templates. However all the formatting is stripped out so none of the templates components work properly.

As I edit listings, I remove the template stuff and just leave the description field.

As far as using AW2K to manage Bonanzle listings, it isn't that hard to do.

When I imported my eBay listings, I went through the offline Auction lots and decided what I would leave on Bonanzle and what I would delete from the import process.

I edited out the "auction" stuff out of the descriptions by using the Batch text editor at Bonanzle. And copied/pasted the item number into Auction lots, enter in start date and change the status to Online.

I created an eBay store Auction profile and named it Bonanzle. So the Auction lots are changed to that profile.

when something sells, we manually create an Invoice, add the auction lots and just use our normal backend workflow. So far it is working pretty good. And we are selling stuff on Bonanzle too. Not a lot but today alone we sold 6 items. And 5 yesterday
