working with 2 laptops

Hello, I've found a person willing to help me post items from her home ( she has MS) using my second laptop. How do I set this up so that she can post stuff for me and we have the software on on 2 computers and that the database remains in sync with with one another? Many thanks, Maisey

Maisey,

You have to network AW2000 in order to use multiple computers like that. And that would not work well from two locations. You also need two licenses in order to use AW2000 on two computers. Each copy of AW2000 must be licensed.

But there is something else you might look at,, I use LogmeIN to access my network from anywhere I have Internet connection. So you could leave your computer running and provide the other person with a free LogMeIn access. They can work using their laptop and put stuff into AW2000 from where they are. I do it all of the time. Even take images from my home, put them into My Pictures and move them to my remote network at work, list, update auctions, generate invoices, check email. The whole sha bang.

There are tons of remote access software out there. But LogMein Free works extremely well, it really is free and it allows someone else to help. The only thing is you can't use AW2000 while they are working on it. So if you need to add stuff to Inventory Items at the same time they are working, someone would have to wait.

I hope that makes sense.

Maisey,

I forgot to tell you, if you decide to try LogMeIn and need help, I'll be happy to help you with whatever I can, which may not be much ...

Ok, here is a thought, put it on the desktop, and use log me in for both laptops? This sounds like a computer technician needs to do, and would I still be the default user, or would I have to set up a second user for my friend? thanks

Maisey,

Do you mean literally the desktop as in the monitor screen? Or are you referring to the PC on your desk?

If so, that is what we do. Aw2000 is installed on the regular PC"s here at work in a network. I use my laptop every single day after I get home from work to access AW2000 on one of the regular computers and do whatever needs to be done.

Just keep in mind, with only one copy of AW2000 on one computer,,, you both cannot work at the same time. But the other person can most certainly work in AW2000 (as long as the internet is on and computer is on as well) adding stuff or whatever needs done.

You don't need a computer technician to do this at all. Creating a LogMeIn account takes just a few minutes. And installing the software is automatic when you start using LogMeIn. It works slick as a whistle.

If you decide to move AW2000 from your laptop to your regular PC, you will certainly want to let us know so we can provide you with the correct procedure for moving AW2000 to another computer. It is not the least bit difficult but there is a method to move AW2K which is the best.

When you say "default user" are you referring to the user accounts on your computer? Or Auction profiles in AW2000?
