User field for Discounts?

I have looked through the help section and this discussion board, and I guess I am missing alot somewhere!~ :)
I am trying to use the "User Field" as a discount field. But I cannot see anywhere to change these items in the screen. Can you do that? What I mean is, can it read "discounts" instead of "User Field 1". Also I would need to have it total out with this field taken into consideration on my invoices. Does it do that automatically?

Thanks all for putting up with my silly questions! :)

HI there!

I haven't talked to you in a long time.. It is so good to hear from you!

Not silly questions at all.

The user defined field names are defined in the "Program Options.
File > Program Options > General tab"

The User defined fields will not show up as an addition or subtraction on the Invoice itself. I will have to double check as far as editing the Invoice and adding a field tag. I don't ummmm remember if that Data field tag is available or not. Sorry. I am having an over 50 mind glitch at the moment

But I will check to see.

You can use the "Insurance" field to subtract a discount in terms of a dollar amount. Use the minus sign "-" (without the quotes) in front of the dollar amount to subtract a given dollar discount from the total due.

Will what work?

HI

Okie dokie have done some digging.

User defined fields 5 and 6 can be added to any email template. However, no discount or dollar discount can be subtracted from the total amount due using the User defined fields.

However, there are a couple of options.

1.) Use a negative value in the Insurance field.
2.)Create an Inventory Item for "discounts" and add the Inventory item to the Invoice. So in the Invoice items it might read

1 auction id xxxxxxxxx Polo mens black shirt $25.00
1 Auction id xxxxxxxxx 10% discount - $ 2.50

The total amount due would reflect the discount and it would show up on the buyers packing slip invoice and follow up with total amount due invoice.

Will that work?

Hey! Yes it has been awhile! :) I am still around...older now though :( I appreciate the help as always with this. My husband is helping too now to get this running better. I will tell him about setting up those fields. That sounds like the best way to do it and lucky for me it doesn't seem difficult either! :)

Your the best~ ;)

Donna,

You are so welcome

Yep I am older too. Isn't that just the pits! No matter what I do, I get older. Too bad my husband is getting older than I am though and at a much faster pace.
