Hi,

Try using Tools | Check for program updates. The category update list should correct the issue.

these days every time you list, you almost must do an update to check for category changes before beginning the listing process. If you don't some form of API warning will be kicked back. It's all eBay on this one...

HI,

Isn't that the truth! I just updated categories and Item specifics and I am already getting warnings about other categories.

yup...it's to the point of annoying. I mean ebay did FINE with the old category structure and while I undertand adding new higher level cats for specialized areas the further granulation of existing categories is just beyond the pale.

For example adding a category for Mid-century modern items has been requested for over 5-years. They FINALLY added it not long ago...and where, under ANTIQUES...good gawd...but at least it's there now and people can stop using "eames era" in every title. And instead use that cat as well as MCM as the current shorthand for items of the area.

but in other areas they add so many lower more granulated )or "leaves" to the category trees that it can end up with 50 items in a leaf category. I mean what is the point of that? Might was well just use 'other' is all cats.

I was once in on a call about adding more categories to Pottery & Glass. It was already impossible to search for things by category at the time and they wanted to add MORE. I suggested the addition of item specifics for the group vs. adding more categories. People do shop for some items not by pattern but by form (i.e. cordials, stemware, goblets, bowls...etc...) so what did eBay do? Completely removed all categories in favor of ONLY Item Specifics, for several months and pretty much killed Pottery & Glass for good. It never recovered. We only got categories back when sell through dropped through the floor. Ironically ebay even admitted they goof'd but refused to switrch back because they needed to preserve the existing "shopping experience"....arrrggghhhh! How I have come to loathe the work 'experience' when applied to anything people do. Now everything must be an "experience"... ?????

Sigh, sorry for the rant it's just such a frustrating thing. Now I just go with it and figure, whatever and stopped selling less valuable items in favor of fewer but more mid-to higher value items. People seem to find those items no matter where they are listed. I even did and experiment by mislisting on purpose and the item ended 2x higher then typically in the correct category...go figure. ???

But, for now I just have added the "update category list", restart then resize aw2k dance to my listing routine.

;)
