email errors

Wondering if anyone has seen this behavior.
Thom and I have corresponded about this and have yet to find a solution.

What happens is that when I allow AW to generate emails, doesn't matter which, they queue but when I select send the email will act like it is sent and then I receive the dreaded error, unable to send.

Now if i let AW generate, but open the queued email then simply close it when i send it it works fine.

If I compose an email, no problems.

So I have learned to let AW generate, go to the outbox, open the emails, close the emails and send.
I want to stop the obvious waste of time and let AW do what it does best and handle it all automatically.

Has anyone seen this, any suggestions, ideas, solutions would be welcome to both me and Thom too I am sure!

Please share!

Marty,

Have you tried selecting all the emails so they are blue, right clicking and use Change status > "Queued"? That normally overrides any email errors.

Marty,

One other thing. do you have trouble retrieving email in Outlook Express or Microsoft Outlook the first time you run the program? I have seen that problem alot.

If you open and run Outlook Express or Microsoft Outlook first. The email client freezes up precisely the same way as you are experiencing in AW2K. Once the email will load and send in outlook Express or Microsoft Outlook, the email will work correctly in AW2K.

Judy,

Have not tried the 'group queue', but will.

About Outlook, and/or Express,
This email acount that I use is exclusive to AW's client.
Have not had it associated with any other email client.

Maybe I should and it might clear up the issue!!

Thom suggested that there might be extra spaces or line breaks within the subject lines of the emails, But I tried redoing the templates got the same results.

So I will keep trying stuff, keep the ideas coming!

Marty,

If you decide to retrieve the AW2K email account with another client,,,be sure you configure the email client to leave a copy on the server.

Have you moved your copy of AW2K to another computer? Meaning the email use to work right and now it does not?

Re: email errors new [re: bluepennylady]

Judy,

If I do will instruct it to leave on server.

Same computer, I changed email accounts, but it did work flawlessly for awhile even after the change. Then worked semi-flawlessly, so I thought that it was just one of those gremlins.
But here lately, and that is like in the last 3 months, yes it has been a persistent issue but I just worked around it. But I thought I might want to get this thing cleared up.
It has been every time I would try to let it work on its own rather than work around now!

Keep the ideas flowing,

Marty

Marty,

Are you sure your email provider has not made a change to the SMTP settings.

Not too long ago several email providers made some changes that caused all kinds of problems for other AW2K users. In fact, several had to literally change email or it would not work.

I'll have to dig up who had trouble,, I mean which email providers that had the trouble. I don't remember off the top my head..

Re: email errors new [re: bluepennylady]

Judy,
That could be.
I was one of the ones that had to change!!
But after I changed it worked, for awhile anyway.
However I will check that out also.
i am thinking that maybe I should create another email account with the same settings and see if that changes anything. It couldn't hurt!

I am going to have fun trying all this I am sure.

Give me something to do tomorrow, I am not at the office where AW resides so i will start fooling with it in the morning for sure. Want to resolve it rather that settle.

Marty,

I hated to ask if you were one that changed. I thought maybe you were but just couldn't pull it up out the back of my mind.

Email providers make changes and sometimes those changes are not necessarily easy to deal with.

Sounds like to me, you have quite the detective work to do tomorrow.

Keep us posted!
