Etsy with AW

I know some of you are selling on Bonanzle and hoping it will soon join the list of venues supported by AW.

Last night, I created an Etsy account. Can anyone give me tips on how to use AW to manage listings and sales on a non-supported site?

Creating an invoice shouldn't be a problem, but all the other tasks.........

I'll have to copy-paste info from the sale notifications (which I assume will arrive) into blank email templates in order to be in touch with buyers.

I'm thinking I'll add items into Inventory, which I don't use for my eBay stuff, in order to have those oh-so-handy Lot numbers (could put the Etsy listing ID # somewhere -- in Reference ID maybe.

All of this will become clearer after I make a sale, but I want to be somewhat prepared.

Would appreciate suggestions.

Thanks, Sue

Sue

Here's how we have managed thus far.

We edited all our email templates so they are more generic. Removing the auction site references to more of a "welcome and thank you for choosing to shop with bluepennylady"

I create an Auction profile for the site
And literally create Auction lots for that site, paste in the site's Item number into the Auction number field. Put in the Start date and change the Status to Online.

When something sells,The auction lot status is changed to Offline or Never listed,
An invoice is manually created and the Auction lot added to the Invoice. Then we just follow our normal backend process.

Other than submitting feedback, which must be done manually on the site.

When listing the items on the unsupported site, the images are saved to the hard drive and then uploaded using the sites uploader, Description field is pasted into notepad then pasted into the site's text editor, etc.

If the site supports a csv file you can always export the auction lots into csv from AW2000, clean out what you do not want to upload to the site (if that site supports csv file uploads) and upload, You can add the images afterwards, Or upload the images to your webspace and then go through and add the image URL's to the Csv file.

Does that help?

Re: Etsy with AW new [re: bluepennylady]

Very, very helpful. Especially about the more generic email templates and pasting the non-eBay item numbers into the field for auction ID.

I did already create a Profile -- nice that AW does not insist on every field being used. And it's nice that we can select the start date and not be locked into something that has to come from an update or internal listing protocol.

So really no need to create Inventory items. Just create Lots as usual but in the new Etsy Profile.

Many thanks, Sue

Sue,

No you do not have to create Inventory Items. We do for everything regardless of the qty we have.. I have to track inventory and the only way some of the reports work is to use Inventory Items.

We did complete all the fields for the profile, even the listing template But we changed the default listing duration to GTC on most the stuff. Not like it matters or anything Just looked better to us I guess.

Good luck on Esty..

Hey,, now that you are selling on Etsy, I have some questions about Etsy that perhaps you can answer after you get your Shop populated.

Etsy is a Google Product Shopping Marketplace Partner now. Each Shop can elect to have Etsy upload their shop items to Google product for them.

But somewhere, somehow the shop owners not only have access to that file but there must be instructions somewhere to create a data feed in the Merchant account. And the feeds keep getting disapproved. Then the Etsy shop owner ends up on the Google support forum wondering what they need to do.

If you find out anything about how the shop owners are getting that information, I would sure appreciate you letting me know. We are beating our heads against the wall on the Google support forum .

I have only one thing listed so far -- my plans and aspirations far outweigh my time and energy. If I get any info on the Google Product uploads, I'll definitely let you know.

That would be great.

Keep something in mind, If you have an eBay store, eBAy is currently feeding your store items to Google product. And Etsy will do the same thing unless you opt out.

Feeding from both places to Google product is not an issue unless you are offering the same items on both sites. Then you run into a duplicate content policy issue. So just don't list the same things on Etsy as you list on eBay.

Ok, thanks. I won't list simultaneously on both sites. I'm watching my GTC Store items that are about to roll over for the next month and ending things I think would have a better audience on Etsy.

Sue

Some sellers I know do very well with certain product lines on Etsy.

I hope you do extremely well there!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!

Re: Etsy with AW new [re: bluepennylady]

Thanks for the good wishes -- my creative time has been woefully limited recently. I couldn't sleep last night dreaming up ideas for Etsy (rule #1: no crocheted toilet paper covers!).

Happy Thanksgiving to All and a special THANK YOU to our soldiers who have to spend the holiday overseas and to their families who will be missing them at the dinner table today.

Sue
