Avast Warning

Went to backup my database today and Avast! says that a Trojan Horse was found in Aw2kNetConfig.exe, and in Aw2kbackup.exe.
So I'm stuck and can't backup.

Cher,
The AVast issue with the Win32 trojan is a serious bug in Avast. They just released a fix for it.
The same thing happened on one of my workstations. And Avast completely destroyed almost every file in AW2K before I got it disabled. Had to reinstall AW2K to fix it.
Did you install the latest Avast update? And will your AW2000 run? Is the database okay?

Hi Judy! I stopped Avast after it moved a couple files to the chest, then I restored them and came here to see if it was an issue with anybody else. Then I went to Avast website and saw it was fixed already. So everything is doing just fine! I should have done it reversed :) When it looks like something might be wrong with my AW2K I think I kind of panic, I don't know if I can live without it......

Excellent. I am so glad you could restore the files.
I agree. I am not sure what I would do without my AW2000 running! Such a bad feeling

I used Avast for quite a few years, but when recently bought a new computer instead of downloading Avast, I installed the "Microsoft Security Essentials" program directly from Microsoft. It has very good reviews. It's free and works with any computer that has a valid copy of Microsoft XP and up. I have Windows 7 now.

HI
Thanks for the information. I have heard from others that they like the security essentials.
Do you have any issues with it interfering with software ? And what about updates to keep up with viruses and spyware?

I've found no software conflicts with Microsoft Security Essentials. It should automatically update it's antivirus and spyware database everyday. When I got my new computer I cleaned out all the Norton stuff that comes free (temporarily), and installed MSE. I'm by no means a computer expert, but going by other peoples opinions it seemed like the best thing to do. Both my old computers had AVAST and Malwarebytes on them, but this seemed like a better solution.

Hi
I use Malwarebytes as well too. Thanks for the information. Perhaps I should at least take a look at it ..

HI
I thought perhaps I should post the "How to" add AW2000 to the Avast Exclusions list.
Right click on the round blue Avast world in the task tray. Select Program Settings Click on "Exclusions In the "Exclusions" dialog box, right hand side choose "Browse" Navigate to the C drive Expand open the C drive Put a checkmark next to the C drive And a checkmark next to AW2000 Click OK or "Add"
Aw2000 is now excluded from being scanned by Avast On resident shield and scanning. The last AVast update removed some exclusion lists so you want to be sure AW2000 is still excluded.
