Etsy sale with AW

I love how I can make AW work for other sites, but I sure hope Etsy releases their API to programmers soon, and that we can update our Etsy sales just like our eBay sales.

I made my first Etsy sale today (finally!). Had already set up an Etsy Profile and had email templates ready to go. Took a while, but I finally realized I had to mark the Lot as Status Off Line, instead of Sold Not Shipped, in order to add it to the invoice I created.

I noticed AW puts the buyer's email address into the field for eBay User ID (and of course, it still says Auction Site eBay). I don't suppose there's a way to enter the buyer's Etsy user name in that field, is there?

I pasted the Etsy transaction ID number into the Notes tab to keep a record of it, but is there some way to associate it with the AW invoice so it could be a Find Record field? It's so frustrating not to be able to just click the globe icon and go directly to the Etsy item (embarrassing how I keep doing that anyway -- like flipping the light switch when you know the electricity has gone out).

Sue
Congratulations on the sale! That is excellent news.!

There is a workaround for the email address being stored as the User id ,, interested in it

Of course you are..

Instead of pasting the buyer's email address into the email address field, put the user id into the email address field.

THEN add the invoice item be it an Auction lot (whose status will have to be manually changed from online to Sold not shipped)

AFTER adding the Invoice item you can then paste the email address into the email address field Because adding an Invoice item is what causes the user id to get stored...

It is an extra step, yes, but it does get the user id to store in the "User id" field rather than an email address. That way if the buyer uses the same user id on other sites, AW2000 will pick them up.

When you create the Auction lot for the Etsy site, paste the id number into the Auction item number field. You can even manually change the Start date to the date the listing went live on the site so you can keep track of how long it has been "online"

Be sure to add the "Close date" to that field on the Auction lot otherwise the lot will not "Archive" away when you archive or purge records.

As far as the Go to listing page icon, there is a request to Aw2000 tech to add the ability to create custom fields for listing pages so that globe icon would work correctly. I have put my vote in for that as well as I sell on other non-supported sites. And that ability would remove many barriers.. Just the ability to view the listing from Aw2000 without needing to open up a separate browser, go to the site, etc would be wonderful.!!

So you might email tech support and add your request as well.

There is also a request for creating custom sites so we can make the site be anything we want, ...

Re: Etsy sale with AW new [re: bluepennylady]

Well, I'll have to wait for my next Etsy sale to try your system.

I think what you're saying is that once the email address is pasted in, that's that. Since the Lot wasn't updated via eBay, AW uses the email address as a stand-in for the user ID. But AW always will allow us to change a buyer's email address, because in the "real world," that could be necessary. Ok, neat trick about pasting in the buyer's user ID first.

I have been doing these things, and I've also been setting the end date to four months in the future when Etsy listings expire.

Ok, I'll email Thom about making the Globe icon work for any venue.

Thanks Judy!

Yes once the email addy is stored that is the user id.. So to override that,, when "Add new buyer" put the user id in the email address field ONLY until you have added one item to the invoice. Then you can remove the user id and put the email address into that field..

Sent the suggestion to Thom, who, as usual, wrote back promptly. He said it was already on the wish list but added, "...it is unlikely to happen anytime soon."

Sigh.

Hi all,

Well at least tech knows there is a lot of folks that would like to see that feature developed. If they don't know they won't even consider it.

Finally got another chance to try this, and it works perfectly. A great workaround.

I found that I had to change the Status to Off Line to get the Add-Item-to-Invoice dialog to "see" the Lot.

One way I've found to make this a little easier is to just run a Google search on the word Etsy and your Etsy item ID. Hasn't failed yet. It returns one result, and it's always been my listing.

Sue

oops.. yes an auction lot status must be "offline, never listed or you cannot find it to add as an invoice item..I am so sorry I left out that little tidbit.. Some days my brain!

What a great idea using the natural Google search with site name and item number.. Cool! Thank you for sharing.

Great trick, Sue, with the Google...it works for bonanza with the item number also, i.e. search: bonanza 123456789 and it returns my item.

Thanks for sharing that!

Re: Etsy sale with AW new [re: tictictic_OnEbay]

It's August 2011, and I'm disappointed to report that regarding the possibility of adding other venues to the list of sites supported by AW2000, Thom says:

"We do not currently have have plans to add support for Etsy (or any other site) to AW2000."

I wish I knew the reason for the company's reticence to expand the reach of the program.

Re: Etsy sale with AW new [re: tictictic_OnEbay]

Sue

I am finding ways to use AW2000 to manage unsupported sites

The CSV Auction lot record export works really well for sites like Bonanza.. I can export Auction lot records using the fields that I need at Bonanza. Save as CSV, rework the column headers and upload .. Then change the auction lot status's to Online for the Bonanza profile. Works pretty good

IF we could get Custom fields so things like the website templates could work like they do for eBay it would be totally cool. I could easily make AW2000 work for anything.

prob just too expensive to justify the development... but it would be cool to have Etsy & bonanza support.

Hi

I would like it.. I can use AW2000 pretty easy with Bonanza but to have that push button to submit feedback and to list without building a csv file would be sweet.
