Images Wishlist

1. Add multiple images to auctions.

Please add the ability to grab more than one image at a time from a folder and add to the auction. Adding one at a time is a draaaag.

2. Image Formatting

Please add the ability to do more with images once they are added to an auction. When i want to add a <BR> Return between pictures or format 2 to a line (rather than as many as will fit) I have to post the auction first then edit the images in the existing auction. Not very handy.
If we could simply add a <BR> or <P> to images on the Add Image screen or if the images were added to the description text box so we could format them or any other method that would allow a Return or other formatting to be added, that would be very helpful.

Thanks!

Re: Images Wishlist new [re: magicka]

Here is what I do that may help you with your first wish.
If I have an item with more than one picture (most all do) I name them the same with a number after each. Ie, pic1, pic2, pic3, etc. When I add my pics to the auction lot I have to do the first one the regular way, the next ones are easier. AW2K defaults back to the directory I got my first pic from when I hit the enter key. (the "add image" button is already highlited) The first pics name is highlited, I hit the right arrow button, hit delete, type the next number, hit enter. I can ad six more pictures about as fast as you can read this.
Just my way around this, for now.
BUT, I agree, being able to add more than one picture at a time would be sweet.

Re: Images Wishlist new [re: rodgw]

thanks, yeah i do something similar myself. but it seems it must have been an obvious oversight that being able to select multiple images at once was left out.
in fact i cant think of any application i use (and i use alot) that doesnt let me make multiple selections of any items (files, images, etc) at the same time.

seeing as a new version of AW is on the horizon, i hope some of these smaller time saving updates will be made to make AW even more efficient.

Re: Images Wishlist new [re: magicka]

is this hopefully being added to the new version? i have a lot of new items that require lots of images. adding more than one pic at a time is a must have!

on formatting can we have the ability to add spacing between images and maybe a preset editable set of borders too?
ideally it would be great to drag and drop images in the description where we want them, but short of that, the above would help alot!

Formatting images in the auction description is one of the few things AW needs help with.

Thank you!

As for adding multiple pictures at once; yes, it is a feature in the new AW2K :-)

Re: Images Wishlist new [re: wheeloftime]

Finally :) thats Great!

SInce thi is brought up again. How about the ability to ADD TEXT and or a watermark / logo to images when including them in an auction description. I know im not the only one who is tired of images being stolen and doesnt always remember to add my logo when i take pictures and add them to an auction.
If AW2k did this itd be a great time saver and butt saver for when we forget! :)

(EDIT) AND HOPEFULLY THE ABILITY TO INSERT IMAGES IN OUR TEXT DESCRIPTION AREA TOO :) :)

Re: Images Wishlist new [re: magicka]

Hi Magicka,

I think adding watermark and text to pictures is more up to the graphical program you use for editing your pictures.
As for adding pictures to your text area; you can do that already since the beginning of Aw2K ! You can use HTML in your text area and the only thing you have to do is make your own reference to the pictures you want to show there (and of course upload them yourself).

Grtz.

Re: Images Wishlist new [re: wheeloftime]

hi,

i realize i can enter HTML in the text area, and i do that with most of my auctions.

i'm just pointing out that most other auction programs allow you to drag/drop or place images where you want without having to enter HTML or copy and paste web addreses into an auction description.

AW is way ahead of other progams in so many ways, its just a shame it lags behind in a few key areas like this.

We can already add images with a good interface, why not extend that image handling capability to the text area as well to make it complete?

and yes, i know watermarking is prob easier in a graphics program, but being able to add some text with AW would really be nice!

Re: Images Wishlist new [re: magicka]

Hi,
There was a suggestion given in this forum before:

In reply to:

15. HTML template editor

- Right now I have to dance my html code around pieces of html code

inserted by AW2000. It would be so cool if there would be a way when I

can have only one page component and it's only my html code without any

code inserted by AW2000 besides fields like <#Title>, <#LotNumber>,

<#ShippingCost> etc.

Only the thing needed is to have a structure like:

<#Repeat>

<#LotImage>

<#/Repeat>

Which would repetitively insert block of html code inside of <#Repeat>

<#/Repeat> for each image of an auction lot.

Then for instance I can do:

<Table>

<tr>

<#Repeat>

<td>

<IMG SRC="<#LotImage>">

</td>

<#/Repeat>

</tr>

</Table>

and have:

+--+

|p1|

+--+

|p2|

+--+

|p3|

+--+

or I can do:

<Table>

<#Repeat>

<tr>

<td>

<IMG SRC="<#LotImage>">

</td>

</tr>

<#/Repeat>

</Table>

and have:

+--+--+--+

|p1|p2|p3|

+--+--+--+

or what ever else I will be able to think of.

This way you can add spaces between pictures or place them in row instead of coulumn etc.

Re: Images Wishlist new [re: Anonymous]

thats all fine and good. i think we all have workarounds for inserting images into auctions and formatting them before or after the fact...

the point is, it seems a fairly simple thing to want to have the functionality to be able to add images anywhere in an auction description and not have to add formatting afterwards or have to insert HTML in the description just to get auction images posted in a format other than that allowed by the existing image handler.

ideally we should just be able to insert an image where we want in the description area, but even if there was a TAG we could insert, say <Image 1> <Image 2> etc. so that AW would grab the image we specify from the image area and put it there would be better than what we have now.

Re: Images Wishlist new [re: magicka]

Hi all, I know this is not what you are wishing for, but it is a workaround, and it's quite easy to do.

Here's a screenshot of a template with three images that have description segments between them (the arrangement can be configured in different ways):

http://members.dslextreme.com/users/emailshere/ScreenHunter_018.jpg

You open the HTML Template Manager and select one you want to use; duplicate it; click to Edit it; then just add Formatted Text and Image components (check the box for Break After each image); then save it with a new name related to the item being auctioned.

Yes, it's a bit of a pain compared to just adding images directly to the Description box in the Lots window, but it's not that difficult. When the Lot is sold, you just delete that template or change its images and edit the wording in the Text components, rename it, and use it for a new auction.

P.S. I must confess I haven't even used this concept yet. I just tried it out tonight and am anxious to submit an auction this way.

Re: Images Wishlist new [re: tictictic_OnEbay]

As soon as I shut off my computer to go to bed last night, it dawned on me that images inserted in a template may not get uploaded to our image servers the same way they do when inserted the usual way (on the Lots page). Does anyone know?

Images Wishlist new [re: magicka]

I wish there weren't a 2 Gig capacity on the image database. We have to delete pictures from Auction Wizard everyday because we run out of space and can't add any more pictures. Since I work for a consignment company and we have 5 computers networked together for listing auctions simutaneouly, we need a lot more space than an average ebayer. We love auction wizard and it's potential to be a great software for this industry, but it's lacking many business minded features. Updated versions and added program features are few and far between, making it very frustrating as our business grows more everyday...

Thanks for listening!

Re: Images Wishlist new [re: tictictic_OnEbay]

no they won't be uploaded. the problem is a workaround is fine if you only add one or two auctions a day. but if you have to write a template for every auction posted for more than a few per day, it quickly becomes counter productive.

what we really need is the ability to add images into the description where we want them without coding them in individually.

Re: Images Wishlist new [re: cbmcd2680]

Yes. I to wish the 2 Gig limit was expanded, I run at times 800-1000 items on ebay in auctions and my store and I use the picutres to really showcase my items so I am also continually deleting pics.
