Email a Preview??

Is there a way to email an AW Preview to someone? I'd like to be able to show a consigner (who lives hours away) what the auction will look like before submitting it. If I copy the source code and email it as ordinary text, would there be a way for the person to see how it would display online? Could they use some sort of HTML viewing software?

Oh, and by the way, there are a dozen photos, so a screen shot really wouldn't work.

Thanks, Sue

Sue.

Interesting idea.... I wonder if you can generate the preview, save it and then upload to your webspace and send the client the link. Right off that is the only idea that comes to mind.

I'll have to work on that one for a bit...

I think that will work, but you have to first upload the images (which I forgot to do and tried to view the result -- duh!), cancel out of the listing process, then find the image names on your host site, then replace the image names in the Preview source code. I don't have time right now to do that (and Pair.com certainly doesn't make it easy to find particular images), but I'll fiddle with it later and let you know if it succeeds. Thanks, Sue

Sue

If you right click on the images in the Preview, the properties box will give you the image URL so you don't have look for it at pair.com.

I tried just saving the preview as another file and that didn't work. Didn't think it would but tried it anyway.

I'll try another idea or two and let you know.

In reply to:

But I uploaded the images to Pair, and I uploaded the HTML code to my ISP's webspace, so the image addresses need to be changed to reference my Pair server. I pasted that part of the address into each of the 15 image URLs (like I've done many times when I have some sort of image glitch after an auction has been submitted) and re-uploaded the code, but for some reason, it didn't work. Probably something simple I'm not seeing.

The image Properties now say

http://myserver.pair.com/myusername/myimagedirectory/LotImg15478.jpg.

The full image tag in the source code is

<IMG SRC="http://myserver.pair.com/myusername/myimagedirectory/LotImg15478.jpg" BORDER="0" HSPACE="5" VSPACE="5" WIDTH="208" HEIGHT="470">

This should be working, but it's not -- I'm still getting the red Xs. Maybe it's something to do with the ISP's web space. Any ideas?

Re: Email a Preview?? new [re: bluepennylady]

Finally got it working. It was just an issue with the image URLs. There's an extra aw2k I was leaving out. I still don't know why it's there -- a sub-directory of the main directory for my auction images. I probably created it and forgot. Some day FTP will be easier. It gives a lot of grief, doesn't it. So exacting!

Anyway, once you get the URLs of your images right, you can easily upload the HTML source code to some web space and send the address of the page to your consigner, and say, see, doesn't it look pretty? So now give me the go-ahead and we'll both make money!

Just noting that my 12-01 reply is listed after my 11-30 reply. Strange.

Sheesh! I need sleep!

What I meant to say is that my 12-01 reply is listed BEFORE my 11-30 reply.

Sue,

I knew EXACTLY what you meant. Only the "boys" might not be able to track it Girls can almost always track thoughts with another girl

The AW2K directory on your webspace is created by AW2000 the first time you upload images. It is necessary to maintain all the images as AW2K does.

FTP is getting much easier than it use to be. And yes it is very exacting.

I am glad you got it fixed. Let us all know what the client thinks about it.

Re: Email a Preview?? new [re: tictictic_OnEbay]

Sue,

Just to see if there is an easier method, I checked with AW2000 tech support.

The only method to generate a Preview which you can email to a client is to use the "Preview" right before the item lists on the Lister window itself. That way the images are uploaded and the generated page already has the URL's correctly written. You should be able to save it and send it.

I am gonna give it a whirl and see what happens. You may get an email from me!
