Google

Hi!
Is anyone having trouble with Google? I tried Keith's and I tried ebay's feed.....they were both "disapproved". I know Google is changing something but I thought that wasn't until December...
Thanks!

All individual seller Google Base feeds across all marketplaces were disapproved last week, around Sept 15, 2009 or so. It is now the responsibility of the marketplace to submit the feeds on behalf of the sellers.

I really do not know what eBay's plan is going to be. I know they are submitting some items to Base and have been for a while. But how that is done I do not know. The new marketplace policy is going to mandate that if our items are going to be uploaded to Base, there are certain guidelines that eBay must comply with.

I suggest you bump eBay about it. Use the suggestion box and request some sort of utility that the store sellers' for all subscription tiers can see their stats without a fee increase. That is totally possible. It just takes coding on eBays' part.

And we need to know what can be done to exclude certain items from the feed as well as the ability to totally disable our feeds if we so choose. I believe right now if you disable the Listing feeds option that will kill the store Google base feed. AT least that is the way it is suppose to work.
Who knows with eBay though.

And we should start asking on the boards what direction eBay is taking

Thanks Judy!
I'm getting in touch with eBay right now! I tried to check my listings on google, but I'm told I have no listings published.......that should really help sales! I'll let you know if I find out anything from eBay!

I've been on the phone for about 20 minutes with eBay.....the girl I talked to had to check with other people to see what was going on....I fianlly got the answer that it's a "tech issue" with google....should be fixed in a day or so......she said it had nothing to do with the eBay changes......think that's true??
I'll try getting my auctions on google again tomorrow......I can tell a difference in sales when google is down!

Of course eBay would say that. It is not a technical glitch with Google Base. It is a new Marketplace and Aggregator policy that is now in place. eBay is just trying to shift the responsibility so the sellers don't go nuts. Kind of like they did with ignoring the new Condition requirement in June. They ignored it telling everyone it was a Google technical issue. Far from it.

And until the sellers made a huge ordeal and they knew the sellers knew it was not a technical glitch on Google's side, they did nothing.

This is a matter of eBay setting up our feeds in accordance with Google Base criteria and providing us with the necessary information, like our dashboard statistics such as Impression, clicks and the performance details.

If enough sellers start calling, emailing, posting on the boards making enough noise, they will be forced to address it. Especially if the big boy sellers holler.

Doesn't this upset Google?? Knowing that eBay is putting the blame on them??

Google and eBay have not played well together for quite a while. The two kids got into a fight on the playground when eBay decided to choose Yahoo as their best friend. And things have not gone well since.

What is really happening is eBay does not want to acknowledge there is a major coding project their sellers are going to holler about. so they pin the issue back on Google.

This was not sprung on the marketplaces by surprise. Google sent out annoucements more than once. Lots of sites and sellers just chose to ignore the announcement.
