Need to change my picture host new

I have about 150 listings online on Ebay. I urgently need to change my picture hosting. What is the least painfull way to do this? Thanks for any help.

HI

It isn't hard to do at all...

Go ahead and get your new FTP account and get it configured in AW2K. Change the default FTP account on the Auction profile(s) to the new FTP account.

As Auction lots end and you list again, be sure to select the new FTP account. And the images will be uploaded to the new FTP account.

Using this method means that the images will not "disappear" from online Auction lots while you move Auction lots over to your new FTP space.

Does that help?

Re: Need to change my picture host new [re: bluepennylady]

Thanks, but I have a more serious problem than that. My host went down completely so no pictures are visible. Another issue is I have many GTC and 30 day listings (non-store format). I am going to permanently change picture host, but I have many listings that need to be fixed and can't wait for them to end unfortunately. Any ideas to speed up the process?

Re: Need to change my picture host new [re: lostsub]

HI

I am so sorry to keep you waiting this long.

My retail store is running totally shorthanded. Main sales clerk's daughter is pregnant and had complications. So momma had to leave as daughter is having C-section. And "yours truly" is running the sales floor everyday. Gee whiz, running my legs off. But today I never got off the floor. I am so sorry.

If you have lost all the images from your listings. There are only two solutions that come to mind.

For either solution you will need to get the new FTP account configured in AW2000.

One is to go ahead and end the listings, and relist using the FTP account.

The other is to Queue the online Auction lots, upload the images, then cancel the listing process once the Lister window opens up. PUt the Auction lots back online.

Then manually edit the URL on each listing at ebay. Which means you need the image URL from the FTP account. That isn't hard to do though. Most FTP accounts you can view the image, right click on the pic, select properties and the URL is on the Properties applet.

Then you go to eBay, go into the edit mode, go to the description field, change to the HTML mode, locate image URL and paste in the new image URL,

Then the URL points to the new FTP account.

As far as the GTC listings, something will need to be done with those before March 30 anyway .. That is if you have a basic store subscription and don't want to get hit with 100's of listings x $0.20 charge.

The 30 day listings format (current Fixed price formatting). If you end those now to correct the image issue, then you can address whatever issues you need to fix prior to listing again. And if you have a Store, it only costs $0.10 to list Fixed price now until march 30.

Does that help at all?

Re: Need to change my picture host new [re: bluepennylady]

Thanks for the tips. I already found and configured a new host so no problems there. I found the best way...still tedious but not too bad...is to launch a "good" listing and then copy and paste the whole description (which includes the pics) into the "bad" using the edit feature. Because of the nature of my Ebay business this might be easier for me than it would be for everybody. I am going to open a store very soon. The basic store fees for listings are 10cents till April, and you pay that every 30 day cycle correct? Then after March they go to a new rate? Or if you start a GTC before April does the rate still stay at 10 cents until you cancel? Reading through Ebay's terms and policys really gets to me sometimes.
BTW could you explain what you mean by "The other is to Queue the online Auction lots, upload the images". How do you queue lots that are already online?
Thanks again for your help.

Re: Need to change my picture host new [re: lostsub]

HI

Excellent! I am so glad that is working out for you... good job.

All new fees go into effect March 30.. If you have a basic store come April 1, Fixed price will cost $0.20.. Premium store costs $0.05. It doesn't matter if the listing is GTC or not. When the GTC listing renews, it will be at the price according to whatever level store you have or if you do not have a store it cost $0.50 for Fixed price.

Is that as clear as mud?

About Queuing online Auction lots. No worries.

Change the "show/hide records filter to show all Online and Queued for listing records

Go to Grid view.
highlight all the online auction lots
Right click select

Change Status to "Queued for listing"

Now go to Auction Site, List queued lots.

Allow the lister to upload the images
When the Lister window appears, instead of "list all lots"
Select "Cancel

Go back to Grid view
Select all records
right click
Select change status to "Online"

now the images have been uploaded to the FTP account.

Does that help?

Re: Need to change my picture host [re: bluepennylady]

I'm becoming more clear thanks. Right now my fixed price including 30 day and GTC are costing .35 each (non-store)but they go into Ebays regular search, not the supplemental search as many store items do. I believe from what I read that a big difference comiing (or has it already started?) is that store listings will no longer be shown as "supplemental" items, but will also go into the regular search. Is that what you've heard? If so that is all the more reason for me to open a store. Is that what you've heard? Thanks.

Re: Need to change my picture host new [re: lostsub]

Hi

After March 30, all Store listings will be Fixed price and receive full search exposure.

There will be a difference between a "Store" and non-store sellers fees for Fixed price as well as Auction.

Non-store sellers can list up to 100 Auction style listings a month starting price of .99 for nothing.
All Fixed price listings will cost .50.

Store owners pay reduced Auction style listings insertion fees.
Fixed price fees depend on the store subscription level
Basic store, Fixed price insertion fee is .20
Premium store Fixed price insertion fee is .05
Anchor store Fixed Price inserstion fee is .03

The final value fees are slightly different and I do not have those pulled up in front of me. But they are displayed in the Sellers central Announcements.

Right now if you get a Store subscription all Fixed price listings fees are .10 until March 30.
