Image size new

eBay is stating that the image size is to be increased. Would it be feasible for us to do that with AuctionWizard 2000. Will it take longer for the pictures to load and the customer leave and go to another auction?

Thanks!
Wilma

HI Wilma

Third party providers that self host the image and the image is within the description field do not have to alter their image sizes. AW2000 users are exempt as long as your images are in the description field or within the template design.

And Yes I agree, these larger images are going to take longer to download .. I hate to view the huge images on my droid. Can take forever for big images to download sometimes!

HI Wilma

We keep our images in the 300 x 300 to 400 x 400 size range. They work well within our templates, and download more quickly in a browser.

We try to keep the dpi at around 75 to 150 depending on the image and what we need as far as close up view..

Re: Image size [re: bluepennylady]

I missed the boat on this one!! My ebay listings don't have that nice new feature where you can hoover over the main pic and get an expanded close up. My settings from years back for upload images were set max at 300 horizontal and 300 vertical. So I unchecked box and upload should be whatever pic size is, correct?? Also what should JPEG Quality be set at? Currently it is at 32. Thanks Mike

HI

The jpeg setting at 32 will work fine. The hover and expand image is an eBay feature using eBay's hosting service. Third party users self hosting do not have access to the hover/expand capability. However third party users also are exempt from many of the image policies.

The 300 x 300 image size will work fine. Or the image can be uploaded in whatever size it actuallyl is. It is advisable to keep the images sized at something less than 500 x 500. Images eat up database size. Large images in the 1240 x 1240 will quickly fill up the image folder. So be sure to Shrink by and use even factors,, like 2 or 4 not odd 3, 7, 9 etc.. Odd values will mess up the image big time .. Just ask me how I know
