eBay Picture Services. new [re: ]

Love the changes in eBay and Auction Wizard to tae advantage of the larger pictures.

One question. In setting up this option in auction profiles it offers two chooses, Use with FTP account and use without FTP account, but I cannot find what the difference is. I have a FTP account, If I am using eBay picture services so I can get the zoom feature how does a FTP account fit in?

What am I missing.

HI Don

If the option NOT to use the FTP is selected, the images are uploaded to the eBay picture services and not to the image hosting

BE sure to check the template you are using by using Preview template on the Auction lot AFTER choosing the option not to use FTP service.

AND you can toggle between at anytime, Which means that if you decide you want to list 50 auction lots using eBay pic service. Then later want to list 50 without, just change the setting on the Auction profile.

The Zoom feature isn't supported yet but I hear that might be considered down the road.

The big deal about the pic service is how it works with eBay mobile. Images within a template do not work as well with eBay mobile. That doesn't mean that pics within the template are bad, just means they do not always display in mobile as well.

I am personally switching back/forth because there are some images that I want within my template right above the description especially if I am listing a B grade garment. I want the pic right with the description so the buyer is less likely to miss the pics.

I hope that helps.

Re: eBay Picture Services. new [re: bluepennylady]

Thanks for the response but let me explain further. In the auction profiles there is a selection for eBay Picture Services with four options:

Do Not Use - This I understand

For Gallery Pictures Only - This I understand which I assume is the old way it worked

Use with FTP Account - Does this use eBay Picture Services AND FTP for pics in the description

Use without FTP Account - Just eBay Picture Services are used and no pics in the description

It was not explained in the help file.

HI Don

Sorry, had a duh moment .

Using with FTP means that it is the old way.. Images upload to the FTP account and nothing uploads to the eBay pic service

You are correct meaning Use without FTP Account - Just eBay Picture Services are used and no pics in the description

Re: eBay Picture Services. new [re: donbaker55]

I'm glad you asked this question because I was wondering the same thing. Since Ebay offers the 12 free pics now, I've been debating on getting rid of my web hosting for now, or at least until I can get a website built to take full advantage of it.

Do you think they would consider including the option to do BOTH instead of one or the other sometime in the near future. Although it really seems like the option to upload to both would already be there.
Thanks,
Christopher

Re: eBay Picture Services. new [re: bluepennylady]

If I check "do not use the FTP service" then no pictures are loaded to eBay. They only show up in my auction if I check "Use the FTP service". Am I doing something wrong? I just wanted to see if the pictures looked different.....Thanks!

I should add to my post that the pics don't show up when I preview the auction. I'm thinking I have to list the auction and then they will show up??
