No Pics in Listings! new

Unfortunately we encountered our first problem yesterday when we uploaded our auctions. We use our Photobucket Pro Account and none of the pictures showed up in either the eBay listings or our Photobucket albums. The eBay listings showed a "This image has been moved or deleted in Photobucket" so there must have been something there at some point. This has never happened before and we have been using AW2000 for a few months now. Please help! I had to put all the pics in manually and it took HOURS.

Hi,

Are the images in the AW2K directory at Photobucket? Go to your Photobucket account and check to see if the images are there.

Please send me an Auction id so I can take a look at it.

Hi,

No Judy. They are not there. Everything worked fine until a few days ago, then the pictures just stopped showing up in the AW2K album. We are not doing anything differently, so I cannot imagine what is causing this. I tested our ftp settings in Auction Wizard. At first it came back "Idle" then switched and said we were configured correctly. But it has done that since I first set it up. Please help!!! We are listing again tonight.

Here is one of our listings

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=370094166264&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=024

Again, I manually put in all the pictures, so they are there, but were not originally.

Thanks, Lindsay

Re: No Pics in Listings! [re: bluebird]

Lindsay,

I would like to have the Auction id of a listing which does not have the images displaying...

We can fix the missing images easy enough. But you might want to consider obtaining image hosting somewhere else other than Photobucket. Photobucket is generallly not compatible with AW2K as it is more of a photo book hosting service. Other folks have tried using the more advanced Photobucket accounts, but they do not work well. And Photobucket is not reliable. You are not the only person whose images disappeared from listings. Other sellers using other software are experiencing the same thing. I really do suggest you look at another provider. We can talk about that later though.

To get your images back on PHotobucket,
First be sure nothing else is Queued for listing. That only complicates everything. If you have other Auctions whose status is Queued for listing, then change them to "Hold" for a little while. YOu can queue them again.

Change your "Show/Hide" records filters to "All Profiles" and use "Online" and Queued for listiing.

Go to the Grid view and highlight all the Online Auctions by selecting the First record, Hold down the Shift key and then go to the last record. Everything in between will turn blue.

Right Click and select, Change status to Queued for listing.

Now go to Auction Site on the menu. and choose, List Queued lots.

When the dialog box opens click OK and allow the Listing Wizard to upload the images.

AFTER the images have uploaded and the main Lister opens, just click "Cancel".

The images are now uploaded again.

Go back to the Grid view.
Select the same records again,
Right click and choose "Change status to...Online".

YOu should be back in business. Let me know if that helps or not.

Re: No Pics in Listings! new [re: bluepennylady]

Hi Judy,
Thanks for the prompt response! I have already put the pictures into the auctions that were missing them, but thank you for the information anyway. We are listing more items tonight and I will surely follow your directions should the same thing happen again.
Our auction ID is shop_blue_bird. I will be happy to switch to another hosting service if we cannot get this to work, but I have already paid the yearly fee, and everything was working great until 2 days ago. So if we can work on this first, that would be great.
Please let me know what you think the problem is? Thanks so much for your help, we really appreciate it!!!
Best, Lindsay

Re: No Pics in Listings! new [re: bluebird]

Lindsay,

At least you will know how to correct the issue in the future.

You will continue to experience issues with Photobucket as it is simply not compatible. It is not a web hosting service but rather a photo album hosting service. And there is a difference.

The URL"s got wiped out because more than likely Photobucket changed everything around. They have done it before and will do it again.

There are numerous extremely low cost image hosting providers which are very reliable. I use pair.com which is $5.95 a month for 250 MB of space. Pair.com is one of the most reliable services out there.

Marty uses siteground.com which is also very reliable. And their rates are the same.

Garry uses someone else and for the life of me I can't pull their name up in this over mind Maybe he'll drop by and share who he uses.

You might also check with your ISP as often they provide x MB of space along with the internet service.

All you have to do when changing is simply add another FTP account by going to File | FTP acounts"......on the menu.

Then in the Auction profiles just change the default FTP account to the new one. As you list or relist auctions, the images will be uploaded to the new provider.

But you really ought to consider moving to a compatible provider and a provider which is reliable.

Re: No Pics in Listings! new [re: bluepennylady]

Hi Judy, I hear you loud and clear. One final question: We get a lot of traffic (sometimes 1000 views per listing + views from Myspace) and I am terrified of bandwidth. One of the reasons we used Photobucket is because there is no bandwidth limit on the Pro Accounts. Do you have any advice regarding this? I know it is kind of off the subject of AW2000, but any advice would be great! Thanks in advance, Lindsay

Re: No Pics in Listings! new [re: bluebird]

Lindsay.

Bandwidth does need to be considered. So choose a provider who will not 'shut you down" if you go over your bandwidth. Choose a plan with tons of bandwidth. And ask the prospective provider what counts towards the bandwidth usage.

For instance. does uploads count or only downloads.

I have a 40 GB bandwidth allowance at pair. My Listing template is a download template meaning it is all images so everytime some clicks on a listing, they are downloading from my pair.com account. I have yet to use even 5 GB of bandwidth. And if I should go over the 40GB, pair won't shut me down. Instead they bill me in increments averaged over the month. And the billing is charged to my credit card on file. I have been with them for several years and have never gone over even with numerous email accounts.

So although you should consider bandwidth and determine exactly how the provider calculates it (and charges) , you would have to have an enormous amount of traffic to use up a sizeable bandwidth allowance.

ON another note, please feel free to ask questions on the board. It isn't just limited to AW2K questions. Heavens we all bounce ideas off of each other like crazy.... So jump right in any conversation, ask questions or contribute. The more minds we have working together the better the ideas!

Re: No Pics in Listings! new [re: bluepennylady]

Judy & Lindsay:

POP

I have used the same ISP for years now and have had no problems with them. They host two web sites as well as hold all my photos for eBay. They have changed their name now but it still is the same company. It is: www.hostway.com.

The only thing is it may be more than Pair Com in that it is webhosting as well as FTP space. However, there are tons of disk space on the basic account and the Bandwidth is very generous.

You might want to at least give them a look - they may have what you want/need. Sorry to see all of the problems you are having with PhotoBucket. I've come across other people who have had the same problem. Let's hope they keep things the same for you for a while until you can get your FTP site problems worked out.

Garry

Hey all!
Judy is right I am using siteground.com and used Pair before that! Both served me well although I think that I found that siteground gave me more bang for the buck. When I switched I started hosting my own site too.
In my opinion siteground suited my needs cheaper.
Check them out and see if they meet your needs. Reliability has been fantastic.
Early on I fought with Photobucket and became a real pain, switched to Pair and then to siteground.
Hope this helps!
