Unable to change to remote dir

I hadnt posted any auctions in awhile and changed my hosting directories a bit but my setup is primarily the same.

i re did a new FTP account and it works, verified using ftp program.

entered the new info to be used by AW2k but now i keep getting the "Unable to change to remote directory" after AW2k connects to the ftp sucessfully.

it was working before i changed the ftp location. any thoughts what could be causing this?

the location is perfectly standard /public_html/domainname/

thanks for any help/suggestions! :)

p.s. this is on a 'domain pointed' domain name, so just to be sure that wasnt the problem, i tried doing the ftp to the primary domain name and get the same error msg. thanks for any help on this...

Hi,

Did you append the new directory at the end of the domain name?

Hi,

did you append that new directory name on the HTTP address too?

Re: Unable to change to remote dir new [re: magicka]

Hi,

And who is the web space provider? On Pair.com if I set up an FTP account for my students, then the remote directory is left blank and the new directory is appended on the HTTP address.

If I make a new directory in the Public_HTML directory, then I use for the Remote Directory "Public_HTML/newdirectoryname" AND I must append the new directory name on the HTTP address as well. So the HTTP address reads
HTTP/server/domain/useraccountname/newdirectoryname

The Remote directory setting in AW2K is not pointing to the new directory.

If you have a firewall such as Norton installed, be sure to allow it in your firewall settings.

thanks for the quick replies suggestions, but im able to access the directories no problem outside of aw2k, and with other apps. just from within aw2k that it seems to be choking on something somewhere... ill keep trying till it works again though :)

Re: Unable to change to remote dir new [re: magicka]

Hi,

I didn't mean to insinuate that you couldn't. But I have the same problem with settings when I create Student directories for college or other classes. The settings in WS_FTP are not exactly the same settings used in AW2K. They are slightly different. which is why I suggested appending the directory name on the HTTP address.

Re: Unable to change to remote dir new [re: magicka]

HI,

I went back to my ftp account and did some testing and moving directories around.

Are you certain the new directory is on the public_HTML side? or is it on the private directory side?
I don't know who your provider is so I can only look at what my provider has.

I can make directories on a private (home) side or in the public_html (web) side. And I have accidentally stuck directories on the private (home) side before and AW2K could not change to the remote directory. In fact, I just tried it again to be sure. When I moved the directory I made back over to the web (public_html) the ftp test in AW2K went through fine. The first time, I got the same message. "Unable to change to remote directory"

Just a thought.
