HTML In Description Field

Hi Everyone,

I am in the process of trying out Auction Wizard 2000 and have gotten to the step of creating an eBay Store listing. I'm going through the Getting Started Tutorial step by step. There's a lot to absorb!

But what I am trying to figure out is: Is HTML allowed in the description field? I copied and pasted my description from my current lister into AW2000 which is in HTML format and when I preview the auction, the description is pretty much the raw HTML and not formatted. So, is there a setting I am missing somewhere, or do I need to copy and paste the description without any HTML and format it in AW2000 using the editor in the description field?

I did manage to figure out how to create my own HTML auction template and everything else looks good with it.

Thanks,
Keith

Keith,

First let me say Welcome! It is such a pleasure to meet you! I will be happy to help you in any way I can.

The Listing templates especially when converted to pure HTML allow for tons of bells and whistles to your listings.

If you want to use HTML in the description then you will not be able to use a listing template. If you use a listing template, there isn't a need for HTML in the description as the listing template is where you put all the bells and whistles including the field tags for the descripton editor.

Did you insert the field tags in your pure HTML template for the description field? If not, you will need to insert them, If so, then all you have to do is enter the description into the Description field. You can use whatever font, font color, bullets, etc that you want. The template will automatically populate the description from the description field.

I hope that makes sense. Be sure you create an Auction profile for your eBay store. And assign your listing template as the default template. Then you won't have to mess with wondering what template is used. Everytime you create an Auction lot, AW2K will automatically use the default template in the Auction profile.

I hope that helps... If not, let me know. And if you need more help, don't hesitate to ask.

Re: HTML In Description Field new [re: bluepennylady]

Hi Judy,

Great to meet you too!

Okay, I got my description the way I wanted it just by formatting the text color, sizes, etc. directly in the description field. I launched the listing to my eBay store and it looks great, just the way I wanted it too.

But, my next questions is does AW2K not support the promotional discount shipping profiles that I have set in my eBay preferences? I have it set to free shipping for purchases of 3 or more items, and free shipping for each additional item after the first. I checked the box in my Auction Lot Defaults and Shipping Options for Make This Item Eligible For A Shipping Discount Based On My eBay Preferences.

Thanks,
Keith

Keith,

Cool! Glad it worked the way you wanted.

Checking "Make item eligible for shipping discount based on eBay preferences" will allow for combined shipping discounts and your preferences will be displayed on the listing page. However, you cannot select different shipping profiles on your My eBay.

Now what you can do and several users use this method..... We create an Auction profile for each shipping discount combination and then create auction lots that are eligible for those discounts.

Do your shipping preferences appear on the listing(s) at eBay?

ANd what is your user id? I wanna see your listing template
