Adding images to inventory item new

I am getting the error message "The image database record can not be created" Any reason for this?

Hello

Your database is full. There are a couple of ways to correct it.
The quickest is to archive away old unneeded records

Anything in Inventory items that you no longer have in stock, uncheck the "Active" link

Make a full backup to a DVD or a jumpdrive and mark it with the date,.File away somewhere safe. If you should ever need the old records they can be restored from the backup.

Archive away the old records using Archive/purge
The advanced settings in Archive will allow you to archive select what you want to archive away and the date range. Many users only archive away inventory items, the related auction lots but keep all invoices. That way they can lookup past buyers and what they purchased

Archiving will remove unneeded images away and reduce the database size.

Let us know if that helps ..

Hi,
Just curious, but what is the max size for the database before we run into the same problem?

Hello

The image folder is a 2GB limit.

I have almost 7000 inventory items.. All with at least 3 images usually 5 to 6. We keep the images sized at around 300 x 300 or so. And archive once a year. We archive away all inactive stock inventory items and Sold/shipped auction lots for each physical year. We never archive invoices. Always archive emails

Since we started sizing images in the 300 x 300 and archiving once a year, I have never had an issue with filling up the image folder.

Thanks Judy. I wonder if there's any plans to increase it since ebay is increasing the minimum to 500 on longest side? I feel for you if you don't have original copies to fix yours :(

Re: Adding images to inventory item new [re: Razz]

HI

actually the picture guidelines do not apply to aw2K users as long as they are using the AW2K templates that the images are within the description field

The guidelines are found here

[ur]http://pages.ebay.com/sellerinformation/news/newlistingrequirements.html[/end url]

The detail that applies to AW2K users is found here

Does the minimum picture size apply to pictures in the Item Description? No. Self-hosted pictures in the description are exempt from these policies.

In general, sellers are highly encouraged to move self-hosted pictures from the item description to eBay picture hosting services. eBay picture hosting services displays pictures “above the fold” on the Item page and buyers won’t have to scroll down to see them. By making this change, sellers can really begin optimizing for mobile customers.

eBAy WANTS you to use their picture hosting service. But since AW2K host their own images and the images are within the description field, the new picture guidelines do not apply.

Cool Judy, thanks for pointing that out because I was really dreading re-taking pictures.
It would seem like mobile customers would want smaller pics in general, especially those on limited data plans.

Hi

Me either! So when the announcement was made at Ebay concerning the picture changes, I thought ,there is no way if the seller hosts their own images within the description.

Got to reading the rules etc and found it.. Tada nope we do not have to redo all pictures

and I am thinking the same thing. Images that big are going to be really hard to load via mobile
