Bulk Update of Inventory
|
|
|
Is there any way to bulk update quantities of my products already in inventory or do I have to manually change price, quantity, discription, etc. to each indiviedual item? I have already learned how to import my inventory using a csv file and I was hoping that I could make adjustments to my records and have a way for the new information to transfer over into my inventory items in AW2K without having to delete everything and start over with the new information. Thanks for your time guys, :).

Hi,
Looks like you are moving right along. There are tons of things you can do in bulk. Changing the qty in stock is not one of them. However, you can change the start prices, etc in bulk form either in the Inventory Items window or the Auction lots window. Keep in mind, changes made to Auction lots are not retroactive as those field values are not "hot" fields. Meaning the changes made to the Auction lots will not affect the related Inventory Item,
In the Inventory Items window, click on the "Grid View" tab, it is located along the center divider all the way on the far right hand side.
Click on the first Inventory Item record you wish to change. Hold down "Ctrl+shift" and then select the last record you wish to change, Everything in-between will become blue.
Right click. A pop-up menu will appear with all sorts of options. Changing the start prices, buy Price, reserve price is at the bottom. You can also change the consignor, Listing template, etc from there as well.
If you wish to select non-contiguous rows of Inventory Item records, then click on the first record you wish to change, hold down "ctrl+alt" key and you can just select records individually, skipping all over the place.
Does that help??

Yeah, I just needed to make my auction profile active or something like that. OK, here we go: 1. Is there anyway to change upload a file or something into AW2K that will update information about products such as description? 2. Is there anyway to associate pictures already on the ftp server to inventory items. (As opposed to going in to my computer and finding the file containing the picture. I want to use pictures that are not on my computer. I have a website that I sell the same items on and I have all the pictures for those items already stored on the net.) 3. What is the difference between an item being a Stock Item or not being a Stock Item? 4. I made a listing just for practice and listed it on ebay, but I have my quantity set to 0 on that item and AW2K still lists it on ebay, how is that going to work out?

HI,
Excellent! I am glad you resolved that issue.
Good questions!
#1. No. However, you can add a description in one of the fields when you are preparing a CSV file and the description will be imported.
#2. Images are one of the issues people have so much difficulty understanding. When an image is added to AW2K, it is stored within the AW2000 database. All Auction lots, etc are referenced to the original image added to AW2000. No image copies are made. That really cuts down on the database size as images takes up tons of space.
In short, images must be added to Auction lots and/or Inventory Items individually. You can copy the images from your website back to "My pictures" and then add the image(s) to the appropriate Auction lot or Inventory Item.
Now you do realize when you import your online auctions, that the description imports as well. It will look funny and need to be edited but it does import. However, no related Inventory Item is associated with imported Auction lots even though you use the "create an inventory item for each auction lot" option. But that is something that can be corrected. If you need help with associating and creating Inventory Items for all the imported Auction lots, let me know, I have a PDF file just for that particular subject I can easily send you.
Keep in mind, the initial setup that you are currently working on, takes the most time. AW2000 can only manage what you have entered into the database.
And let me clarify something else. When you list with AW2000, AW2K will create a AW2k directory on your ftp space just for the AW2k images. They will not be the same images that are on your website. Does that make sense?
#3. There are 2 types of Inventory Items, One is "Stock Inventory Items' the other is "non-Stock Items". Stock Inventory Items allow for qty. Non Stock will not allow for qty. You must select which one you want to use when you create an Inventory Item by checking (or electing not to check) the "Stock" checkbox. Once you check the "stock" box, the grayed out areas become active. Extremely useful fields. YOu can see where your Inventory is currently committed to. Whether it be Auction lots or Invoices. Not everyone uses Inventory Items. I do. Even if I only have one of an item. And I use primarily Stock Inventory Items for more than one reason. There are several reports that are inaccessible if you do not use Stock Inventory Items. I like to be able to see exactly where Inventory is committed. Storage locations is not available in the reports for Non Stock Inventory Items.
#4.If you create an Auction lot from a Stock Inventory Item and the qty in stock is less than zero, you will receive a warning to that affect. However, you can still list the Auction lot. But you get umpteen warnings about it every step of the way.
so how did I do?? Make better sense? If not, let me know and I will try again.
