Discount on invoice?

Hi All! I hope everyone is doing well tonight. I'm working on a manual invoice and was wondering if there is a way to show a discount? I was thinking of putting the amount in one of the user defined fields as they seem to accept negative numbers, but then how do I get that to affect the invoice total? Any advice would be appreciated.

cher,

You can use the Insurance field for discounts. Put a "-" sign in front of the dollar value. AW2K understands the negative sign and subtracts it from the total due.

You could then change one of your Total amount due email templates from Insurance to Discount.

Just duplicate an Email Follow up with Total amount due) rename it "Discount follow up" or whatever you want,
Open it up to "Edit"
Scroll down in the "Invoice Footer" section
Change the word "Insurance" to "Discount"
But leave the field tag like it is.

And the email Discount follow up with total amount due will reflect the dollar amount you discounted.

Will that work?

Hi Judy! I tried to put the discount in the insurance field but it didn't subtract from the total when I went to record the payment. Am I doing something wrong by just entering it in manually?

Cher,

Did you put in the minus sign in front of the value?? Meaning if you were giving a $2.30 discount, it should be -2.30. That causes the dollar amount to subtract as opposed to adding.

Yeah, I did that and it looked nice, but the total didn't change. I'll try it again when my 3 year old daughter is done with my computer and let you know.

Cher,

YOu have to "Post" changes before the math will show up.

On the tool bar, choose the Edit record button and then the Post Changes which is the checkmark. That will cause the math to change.

Cher,

Well I don't know about how "genius" I am, but I am sure glad that worked.

Have you created a new email template yet with the "Discount" added yet??
