Help, I've been fooling around with trying to add a message to my invoices all night and I can't figure it out.

... I want to add a message at the bottom and I can't figure out how to do it. Do I add a footer? and add something there?

I was using "memo" and typing in that window but when I go to preview nothing is there. Also the memo isn't big enough..I trying to beg for 5 Star Ratings, nicely!

Also, since a lot of my invoices are for 1 to 3 items there is a lot of empty space before the totals owed, paid, etc. Can I reduce all this open space?

No worries. You can customize your Invoice and add whatever you want to it. I have messages all over mine and change the messages sometimes with the season or when I have a special going on.

First, which INvoice are you using? I presume you are going to "Tools | Reports | Invoices" and choosing the Invoice you want then selecting "Customize"??

Good Deal,

In the Customize window, look on the toolbar. The second tool over is the capital letter "A". That is a label.

click in and then click into the footer area of your Invoice over to left or wherever you want the text to go. You will see a "Label1" appear. You can drag and expand the box however big you want it.

Each label can only be one line. so if you have a three line message to enter, you will need three labels.

I hope that makes sense. You can click the "Preview" button on the top to see how your message looks, If you need to move it you can do so. Even use "nudge" to move it ever so slightly.

Thanks that helps but I can't save my work....it doesn't show in the preview. I even tried saving it and the message is not there.

HI,

The text you want displayed is typed into the label field along the top. Right where it says "Label x" and X is the number of the Label. (AW2000 automatically numbers the labels for you). It is right underneath the first few tools on the toolbar. That is the field where you type the text.

Is that where you entered in the text you wanted displayed?

Thanks, I did that but it didn't preview ...changed to invoice with buyers notes and that one works???

But we really need to determine why you could not preview the text. That is super strange.

However, I am glad you got it to work. You are most welcome. My instructions tend to be a bit wordy sometimes. going to long way around to get to something.

I don't know why...I probably corrupted something in that one...I made some changes to the invoices years ago and then last night was trying all sorts of stuff. I couldn't use the invoice with notes until I filled in invoice numbers??? Filled them in far enough ahead that it should be years before I need to adjust.

Here is what I added...feel free to use or modify if you like it.

You should not have to add the Invoice numbers. That data is auto retrieved when AW2000 generates the report.

Send me the Invoice you are using and I will take a look at it.

To send the Invoice. go to "Tools | Reports" Find the Invoice you are using in the "Customized Invoices.

THere is a button "Save to File" Save the Invoice to a file somewhere on your hard drive where you can locate it.

Attach it to an email message to me. I'll take a look. You should be able to add labels, and not have to touch the Invoice numbers at all.
