Paypal Service Fees

Is there an easy way to import the service fee into AW2K?

Just wondering!

Marty,

The only way I know is to record the fee when recording income. There is a field in the "Record Income" dialog box for the payment service charge.

Judy,

Yea that's the way I usually do it but having to go to Paypal to retrieve the fee amount is what is aggravating to me.
What is your procedure for retrieving this number?
Is there a way that it could be included in the payment notification email that we receive?
As you can see I am fishing here! Your thoughts??

Re: Paypal Service Fees new [re: moonstruck22]

Marty,

Well I cheat just a tad. I do not record the payment service fees for each payment. At the end of each month I run my Invoice income report. The difference between the INvoice income and the fund transfer to my Internet bank account is the payment service fee.

I was recording each one but it was too time consuming. So my accountant and I played with it for a few months. The number was so close, we just decided to do it this way.

But I will look and see if there is a way to have the fees show up...... THat is a good idea...

Judy,
I know what you are saying, I do the same on a few things.
Use one lump sum instead of many transactions and things seem to come out in the wash!
But I was thinking if that service fee was in that email it would be mighty easy to transfer the number.
But lumping together is where I am headed for now!
Let me know if you find a way, but please don't spend too much time on it!

Marty,

It appears there may be a way to have the fees returned. Possibly. I am working on it with Paypal tech. I'll let you know what I find out.

Marty,

Wow, didn't expect to see you around here at this hour!

Yes it would be very cool. I am extremely anxious to see what pans out. This could be totally neat if there does happen to be a method. I have been in the developers sandbox playing around.

Re: Paypal Service Fees new [re: moonstruck22]

Marty,

Well about all I did in the developer sandbox was get sand between my toes.

The short of it, Paypal does not provide that information at this time in our Paypal Instant payment notifications. I have talked to two of the developers at Paypal though. They were extremely interested in the concept. Of course they wanted to know the "why and what for's" I just told them logging into a Paypal account and scrolling through payments just to find the service fees is really not very efficient. Nor is it doable for all sellers.

I suggested the feature be something the seller could have the ability to add to the email notification by logging into their Profile.

We'll see if anything pans out. Maybe after the holidays, I'll have a bit more time to look into it further..
