Exporting Shipping Address Info

Shipping address information can be exported for use in other applications (such as label printing software, shipping management software, and postage websites).

Specifics on how to use Auction Wizard 2000 to export shipping address information for use in other applications are addressed in the help files. Select Help | Contents from the Auction Wizard 2000 menu bar. Click on the Index tab to find and display the Print Shipping Labels and Invoices Tutorial, then click on the "Export Shipping Addresses" dialog box link found on that page.

Re: Exporting Shipping Address Info new [re: AuctionWizard]

Is there anyway to create an ODBC connection to the AWK database? I have done this bazillions of times with Access, FoxPro, and SQL databases, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to do it with this "BDE" database.

There is no native (Microsoft) ODBC driver for BDE, unless I am missing something, right? This would be such a HUGE boon for us users of UPS Worldship, since Worldship has a very robust mechanism for creating ODBC links to other databases that you can tie to a filter or query.

My plan would be to create a filter that only links address information from invoice records in the AW2K database that have a status of "Wating to Ship" and a "Ship Via" value of "UPS".

In practice, one would process payments in AW2k, then fire up WorldShip and then simply run the "Batch Import" with the "delete existing records" option checked. Then it just becomes a matter of weighing all the packages as you process a shipment for each address record (including the invoice and eBay lot ID in each record.)

Has anyone ever attempted this? It seems so stratightforward, yet just out of my reach technically....

Thanks!

Brent

Re: Exporting Shipping Address Info new [re: AuctionWizard]

Uh, thannks for the quick reply, but creating an ODBC link is VERY different (and much more useful to my purpose) than an export file. I realize that exporting is a lot "safer" but what I am after is an interactive connection between AW2K and UPS worldship.

Once invoices reach a status=5 I want to pick them up in Worldship and have all the address (and email, invoice number, and auction ID) already populated. I have already been able to do this with a SQL query, (posting the "live" data to an Excel spreadsheet and an Access database) but when I try it with WorldShip, I get data errors. I suspect that it has to do with the ODBC driver for Paradox 5.x not being correct (Is AW2K using Paradox 5?) or perhaps due to the data types in the various fields.

I'll figure it out eventually, but it sure would be nice if you guys could offer "out of the box" integration to UPS worldship. If you decide to look into it, I would be happy to help you with the specifications for the interface. I am not a software developer by trade, but have been in the software business for about 10 years and understand the process...

Thanks!

Brent

Re: Exporting Shipping Address Info new [re: AuctionWizard]

The Shipping Address export is great and very functional. Now for the but… It would be wonderful if it included the ‘Ship Via’ field. I currently have to jump back and forth between AW2000 and the USPS Shipping Assistant 2.2 to look up the information. Makes shipping very slow. Please let me know if this will be added to the future feature list.
