Import lots from eBay new

My computer blew up and I had to re-install AW2000 from scratch since my last off-site backup. Lost about 8 lots. Is there anyway to import the info from eBay, or do I have to re-create them manually?

Michael,

bummer! I am so sorry.

You can use "Auction Site > Import Auctions" on the menu to import listings from eBay. Keep in mind that if you use GTC listings and the creation date is too far back, they cannot be imported.

Does that help?

Judy-
Thanks for the help. I didn't know what GTC listing where, but I followed your instructions and basically used the default options to interesting results. All my lots reloaded (whew) but they look kinda weird with all the information run together from the header, footer, etc. without the prettyfied template layout. Most of the essential eBay data is there, but stuff like tracking numbers, pictures, and payment info, etc is missing - plus PayPal fees are missing. Also no ledger entries appear (maybe that will reappear when I put in the payment stuff) So I'll need to reconstruct that stuff, but at least I'm further down the road than I would have been thanks to your help.

While putting things back together I noticed that a link to Auction Wizard automatically appears on my templates, even the ones that I've edited/created. At one time I remember that I could turn that off so that link doesn't appear. I've been all over the program and can't find that switch, did that option get yanked or am I looking in all the wrong places?

MIchael,

the import process skews the template and design. You will need to clean up the description field and add images prior to listing again. Then select the template you want to use on the Auction lot where the template field is at and when you list the template will upload fine.

To remove the Auction wizard link from the template, go to
Tools > HTML template manager" On the menu
Select the template you want to use
Click "Edit"

In the template editor, click options on the menu
uncheck "Show Auction wizard 2000 link" and that will remove it from the template

Are you using Inventory Items to create Auction lots?

Judy-
Yes import skews things alright-looks like my typing before I've had my morning coffee.
How about that, the remove the AW2000 link from the template is right there where it probably always was... the computer crash has had me a little rattled, AW2000 wasn't the only program screwed up - been working on this for 3 days...yuck!

I'm not using Inventory Items yet because I'm only selling quantities of ones and so I didn't know any advantage to using inventory items since I'm so small scale.
Thanks again for your help...I haven't auctioned and used AW2000 for about a year, so I'm re-learning everything again!

Michael,

Computer crashes are not fun, that is for sure. I am so sorry.

You might consider burning a DVD of the entire AW2K folder every month and a copy of the backup once a week. That way if a crash happens again, you take the handy dandy disk to another computer and literally copy AW2000 from the disk to the new computer's root of the C drive and you have all your data, templates etc.

Using Inventory Items will allow you to access some reports that cannot be ran if using just Auction lots. But it depends on what kind of reports etc you want to have access to.

I hope you get it all put back together quickly!!
