AW2K 101

As of right now, I have around 40 to 50 items that I list over and over.

What will be the best way to set them up in initially AuctionWizard? As templates, and then create lots from the template? Or as inventory items?

And is there any way to keep the photos from being deleted from my ftp account, since the items are constantly being relisted ? (well, not the same items, but you know what I mean) I see where you can choose to leave them on the server for 60 days, but I am hoping there is a way to set it to only manually delete photos.

I believe this is my 3rd post for the day, I hope I don't over-tax bluepenny lady and run her away!

Sigh. So much to learn. I am so grateful that the free trial is for 60 days because the first half of it I've spent being frustrated to the point of giving up several times. However, I am sure that the software will do exactly what I need, if I can only survive the learning curve.

Hi

nope you won't wear me out at all.. i do apologize for taking so long to respond though. We are doing inventory here at work.. slightly a mess when we inventory

It won't matter if the images are deleted from teh FTP server.. AW2K puts a datestamp on the listings. When you list, if the image is needed to be uploaded to the FTP server it will do it for you.. If the image is fine, it will leave it alone ... I would strongly suggest allowing AW2k to manage the images on the FTP space.

When I setup someone using AW2K, I recommend using inventory items even if there is only one available. There are some things that are not available to you in terms of management if there is no inventory item.

You can import your current listings from eBay into AW2K.. Then you can create Inventory items, (there are a couple of steps involved but no biggee0 clean up the listings add the images and start working from there.

If the 40 or 50 items are not currently online at Ebay, just add them in AW2K now.. Edit a listing template how you want it, and start listing.

When you edit a listing template, duplicate it first.. That way if you make a mistake you can just delete it and have the original to duplicate again..

Here is the way the work flow is meant to go..

First create an Auction profile.. Complete the fields.. When you get to email template defaults, you can edit those as you go ..

Select the template you want to use as the default.. you can change the default anytime you want. AND you can change a template on any auction lot by just selecting a new one anytime you want.

Create an inventory item add images, and complete all the fields... Check the Stock Item and Active..Enter in how many you have even if it is just one.

There is a REd hammer on the toolbar.. Click that,, A Create auction lot dialog box opens up..And you select the Auction profile you want to create the auciton lot for.. if you only have one profile then that profile is all that will show.

The auction lot is created.. The qty in stock will reduce by one tellig you there are no more available. you can see the aution lot number appear over in the Commited quantities box.. Double click on the lot number and you go directly tothe Auction lot..

if you like what you see and there is nothing else you need to do. you can Queue the auction lot for listing.

When you get to that stage, just holler and we will walk you through the listing..

AW2k is very powerful. has lots of featuers. We could not function if we didn't have AW2k --literally it only looks overwhelming because it is new..

Re: AW2K 101 new [re: bluepennylady]

Exactly the way I need information presented to me! First, do this...Second...do that. Great! Thank you!

Also, knowing I can import active listings and make inventory items is cool. But will that then mean all of these items will process through AW2K when they close? Hmm. Perhaps I will just list 2 or 3 and see them through before importing 40 items.

Judy, if it's ok by you, I will just add questions that pertain to the workflow to this thread as I go along. I have no doubt there will be more! and that way they will be localized instead of spread all over the board.

Thanks again. (and yes, inventory time is a bear, isn't it?)

Judy

Sure ask away.. This thread is fine..

You really should setup the Auction profile first.. Everything kind of hinges on the profiles.. And you can have umpteen if you want..

I have different profiles for different listing types as in for auction formatting, fixed price formatting and them some depending on shipping services.. As all that stuff is defined as defaults on the profile.

And yes you can import the listings and then go backwards to create inventory items.. it takes a couple of steps to do it, but once you have down how it works, it is quick to do. And I will have to look but I believe I have a pdf file of how to do that in step by step.. I think

Yes if you import the listings then they can be managed in Aw2000.

Hey, a pdf how to file would be wonderful! Did you, by chance, find it? And yes, I have my auction profile set up as well as the email and ftp. Whew. <wiping sweat off brow> Am I understanding you to say that you can have 2 or more auction profiles for 1 ebay account?

In the meantime, on with the questions.

I have successfully created 2 items in inventory. Now, to list them, do I need to duplicate them first?

Thank you, Judy/blue for your help. I have had a look at your web presence and gee whiz, it looks like your plate is full already!

Re: AW2K 101 new [re: JTC]

Hi there

Yes i did find them,, finally .. Geez.. Two of my computers went down and although I have full backup etc.. I rearranged folders when moving the data to new machines.. had to really look around for them.

If you will email me at

info@pennyworthsales.com

I can send them to you..

You do not need to duplicate the inventory items..

Here is how it works.. The inventory Item is the "master copy'.. When you create an Auction lot from the Inventory item it makes a copy of the information..

If you look on the toolbar on the Inventory item you will see a red hammer.. That is the Create auction lot tool

click the red hammer and a dialog box appears allowing you to select what Aucton profile you want to create the lot for.. Select and OK.

You now have an Auction lot.. click theAuction lots tab .. The newest created Auction lot is showing..

And yes you can have umpteen profiles for the same eBay account. I do.. My daughter in law has like 15 profiles for the same eBay user id.. She uses profilfes for all the shipping classes she offers. That way the shipping options are all set up by default and she can fly through creating auction lots etc more easily

I have profiles setup similarly... Calculated shipping, flat rate, or free shipping. As well as a profile for Bidding auctions and about three or four for Fixed price.. Those have different setups for international shipping.

But the profiles can be used to manage whatever you want.. There are umpteen ways to manage stuff in AW2K..

you are most welcome.. I am glad I can help.
