"condition description" FIELD [re: ]

Maybe I'm missing this, but I don't see any way to fill in the "condition description" field. Ebay has now started sending out warnings if this field is not filled out, & I can't figger out how to do it.

HELP! Please....

Thanks

Re: "condition description" FIELD new [re: twoolds]

I'm with you on this one. I always put a condition description in my listing so the buyer knows what is what. Also, if there is any defect, etc. I even take pictures of it, plus describing it in my description. Hopefully Auction Wizard will come up with some solution. Don't know if this affects how eBay lists us in the searches?

Re: "condition description" FIELD new [re: auctions1329]

I wrote to Thom regarding this, & he replied:

"AW2000 does not currently support the condition description field. That is something we plan to add in the next program update. We do not yet have a timeframe for when that will happen."

I hope they (AW) get it done soon. There's a monthly purge/blood bath going on at ebay, & I've got 180 warnings in the Selling Reminders section of My Ebay. There is no way to bulk edit these at Ebay, and individually it takes about 1-2 minutes each. Pretty much impossible to do that every week, so I'm leaving the warnings sit, but sellers are getting banned daily for less than this.

Several veterans on Seller Central are saying that anything over a few of these warnings, along with ANY new DSR dings, or even a NEG, may put you into the next round of Permanent Seller Layoffs. That should take place around 11/25. Happy Thanksgiving............

Re: "condition description" FIELD new [re: twoolds]

I'm not a big seller, but maybe the group over at Powersellersunite.com are correct. eBay is trying to get rid of the little guy and become more like Amazon.com. So what does a little guy do? Even Etsy is starting to have problems and letting artisans design jewelry and have a manufacturer make it. If you go to another small site, such as Zibbet.com, how long before you get sales? Guess I'll have to go and add the condition in one by one.

Just got to thinking, I'm wondering if eBay wants everyone to use their software so eBay has more control of everything. Just like on Amazon. Just a thought.

Re: "condition description" FIELD new [re: auctions1329]

I was just fixing to ask the same question because I've got a ton of warnings about the descriptions as well. I'm thinking these extra description are aimed at making it easy for mobile phone users, but can't say for sure. I do know that my sales are freaking horrible and I'm trying to do everything to fix it, including all these Ebay warnings and as twoolds mentioned it takes a few minutes for each one and when we have 100's it's extremely time consuming on top of everything else. We seriously need an update for this since it's been out for awhile or I'm going to have to start looking for another listing solution. I'd rather not do that, but if I'm going to have to keep switching back-n-forth over to Ebay to make changes I'm not going to have much of a choice ya know...

Re: "condition description" FIELD new [re: Razz]

I have added to each of my items, the condition that they are requesting. But then again, I don't have hundreds of items listed. Being that I do put the condition in the description, I just had to copy it from my lot # and paste it in. But I wanted to see what that condition description does, so I looked at my items on a Samsung Tablet and Underneath Condition, they have "Seller Notes" which is what I had pasted in it "Condition: Good - no chips or cracks.". I can see all of that without having to open up, or click, on the condition arrow. And so I wanted to know what some of the big guys are doing, so I did a search for Skip McGrath, seller ID mcgrrrrr. He uses Vendio and his listings on my tablet did not mention any other additional conditions. So my guess is that by having that extra line for condition, the buyer can see at a glance that they want to check it out further or not. Now I don't know what Vendio does in a situation like that. did they change the way you enter info? Good question. Hope this helps everyone and good luck!

Re: "condition description" FIELD new [re: auctions1329]

If it was just a few listings it wouldn't be no big deal, but I'm listing 500+/month and needing to go in and redo it every month just plain sucks! If it was the same condition for the majority of items it wouldn't be too bad I guess since you could bulk edit, but I have a lot of different things with various conditions so bulk editing for me is of no use. I hope Thom will add this pretty soon.

Re: "condition description" FIELD new [re: Razz]

I had an idea on a possible workaround. I dl'd Turbo Lister to check it out and there's an "Import Items" which I'm assuming will import active listings. I'm wondering if we did that and then added the Item Conditions and then synchronized if it would add it to our active listings? I know absolutely nothing about Turbo Lister , but hoping someone here is familiar enough with it to know if that would work or not. I'm debating on just trying it, but kinda paranoid I'll really mess something up, lol. We shouldn't need to use 2 programs though to this, but if it'll work at least it's better than nothing for now.

Good luck doing ANYTHING with turbolister other than watching it FREEZE and bog down your whole computer. I have been using AW2K for a long time now and anything it does not do - I don't use.

Re: "condition description" FIELD new [re: ehlmann]

First off:
auctions1329 mentioned Ebay's software earlier in this thread.

As far as Ebay's own software goes, they have announced that Blackthorne is being dumped. (Blackthorne is Ebay's answer to Auction Wizard) I started with Blackthorne back in the late 90's. Cost 75.00-150.00 or something like that, good for lifetime, free updates. That is......... until Ebay bought them out a year or two later. End of story. I dumped 'em. Made me mad! That must have been along about 2000-2002? or so. Looked at a couple of other programs to replace Blackthorne, found Auction Wizard, it had lifetime updates, I liked it, so I bought it. Back then, and going way back into the early '80's, I used to purchase good, expensive software, with lifetime support.

Guess what, almost without EXCEPTION, every single program I purchased, that promised free lifetime updates/support/blah/blah, and usually costing $200-$400, got bought out, & then they dumped all the original terms to the original purchasers ................

EXCEPT for one program............. (wait for it......)

AUCTION WIZARD!!!!!!!!!

(I know, the pricing is different now, than when I purchased it, but the point is, Auction Wizard has never changed any of the terms to the ORIGINAL purchasers, or asked for more money.) I've had a couple of crashes to Auction Wizard in the last 10-12 years, PROBABLY the fault of Microsoft or other crap. Thom got me fixed up RIGHT NOW! I've had NOWHERE NEAR the problems I've had with everything else I've run. I say this is GOOD software! Been well worth it. I wish they could get it going for Etsy/Zibbet.

Anyway, Been working on a solution for THE STUPID ITEM DESCRIPTION PROBLEM, for a while. I read on Ebay SC a few things about this solution, but couldnt get it to work, so I figgered it was relative to Blacktorne, or Turbolister & gave up. Then I stumbled on to this.... Sort of........Hope I get this right.

1) In My Ebay: Selling: Under Selling Reminders: It says:
“To let buyers know exactly what to expect, add a condition description to 160 Listings”

2) Right Click on the 160 Listings, open in a new tab.

3) At the TOP LEFT of that new screen: click into the box next to where it says:
“View all listings that are missing a condition description. (160)”

4) Now click into the NEXT BOX DOWN, the one ON THE TITLE LINE, that effectively checkmarks the entire column.

5) Click The “EDIT” box, just above the title row, & when it opens up, click on “CONDITION”. That opens ANOTHER BOX, where you can select Editing in bulk, or Individually. I chose Bulk, That was the point of this for me, but this might also work pretty well if you have to fix them individually.

(Read #6 a/b/c carefully, as there are 2 possible sets of CONDITION, & CONDITION DESCRIPTION boxes)

6a) So now open each ADDITIONAL box that has appeared (IF ANY!!!) for “CONDITION” issues, (1 for each major category, 3 in my case) within this new Edit box, & change the drop down menus from “NO CHANGE” to: “CHANGE TO”, & then click on “USED” or “NEW” accordingly (REMEMBER WE'RE DOING BULK - ALL AT ONCE HERE - STOP NOW IF BULK WILL NOT WORK FOR YOU!)

6b) Now TAKE A MOMENT, Maybe drink beer. Sit down & figger out how you can change (INSERT ACTUALLY) what Ebay calls CONDITION DESCRIPTION, all at the same time. In my case, it goes something like this: Well, they're ALL vintage. They're All used. They ALL need a “condition”. In my book that makes ALL of the Dam*ed things “Vintage Used Condition” Note, if you choose to do this, please pick your own phrase. I am copyrighting/veroing this phrase, so it doesn't get on every ebay auction, & they figger this out. :)

6c) & Finally, also open each box that has appeared for EBAY'S STUPID “CONDITION DESCRIPTION” issues, & change the drop down menu from “NO CHANGE” to: “CHANGE TO”, & then, in the new box that opens up, paste the following “Vintage Used Condition” (w/o quotes), or WHATEVER YOU PLEASE! Please send .10 to me, for each use of my phrase, or alternatively, donate to Salvation Army Kettle.

7) Click on “SAVE & CLOSE”

The following actually happened as I was typing this into AW Forum:

8) Manhattans all around

9) OOPS! Noticed I forgot to Click on “SUBMIT ALL”

10) Also, Click on “CONFIRM & SUBMIT”

11) See #8

Good luck, This worked as of 4:43 pm 12/4/2013. I cant find the original notes regarding this, in SC, but they were not extensive anyway, & I had to stumble through this about 6-8 times, before I found the above order, which works!

I'm going to post a rare VENT (Re: Google/Ebay/Evil) kind of tied to this, but wanted to get this answer up first. Stay tuned.

Re: "condition description" FIELD new [re: twoolds]

UPDATE TO MY ABOVE POST

After I went back to ebay, & reloaded "MY EBAY", the affected auctions had not updated, & were still listed as having no item descriptions. I had to try 2x more to get it to work. The solution MAY HAVE BEEN, to only click one parameter in that final box, instead of the 4-6 I had during this go-round. After handling it that way, it worked. Then again, maybe just plain old Ebay glitch.............or not updated in MY EBAY..........

Re: "condition description" FIELD new [re: twoolds]

Not a glitch at all! This is another method they have to thin the herd. Anyone that exhausts themselves filling in these incessantly to see they have not "taken" will fall off the selling ledge and die. This is how they have come up with the latest top rated sellers.

Re: "condition description" FIELD new [re: ehlmann]

I just finished putting in the condition fields as they wanted. As I mentioned I do put the condition in the description on every item so I only had to copy over to eBay. But even then it was a pain in the butt. Have you had sales on Zibbet?
