eBay Stops charging developers to use API

Just read that eBay has eliminated fees for the Developer's API...

Maybe this can help Thom begin to add new and some long overdue functionality to Aw2k? We could sure use LOTS of the newer listing options etc...

Here is info about the change:

FYI, for those who did not know. For several years now eBay has charged HUGE fees to developers to have direct access to program code (called an API) which provided developers with direct access to eBay functions. This included listing options, My eBay stuff, and more..the fees were listed to how many "calls" the program made to the API for access. For each listing it took anywhere from 8-12 calls to the API...this fee structure all but eliminated AM programs that charged a flat rate because over time the developer would lose money on each customer using their program. So many developers developed work around's which worked but increased the overhead of adding new functions/options as eBay introduced them...developers were cornered either way. Most of us suspect eBay was trying to manipulate the AM market and slant things toward their own applications (which sucked so bad eBay needed to put up road blocks for the competition...)

So, today it seems as if the free market and 3rd party developers finally won...which means we sellers & buyers got a huge WIN today...

Sooooo, Thom....whatchadooooin'???? hehehehehe....morefeaturesmorefeatures...we want some more please....hehehehe....

:)
