Local Pickup; Paypal Prefs new

I individually queued & listed one auction just now. I checked the box for Local Pickup Only in the Listing Preferences in AW (before clicking to actually submit the listing), but I still had to revise the item at eBay to reflect Local Pickup. Did I miss something? Is there a way to indicate Local Pickup that gets eBay to recognize it?
Also, I omitted the Paypal payment option in AW for this Lot, but I still had to remove it at eBay because apparently my eBay Preferences were set to offer Paypal on every listing. I have now unchecked that Preference, but I'm not sure what the result will be. I will no longer get the Paypal logo on ANY of my listings?? We have to change this Preference at eBay as needed for particular auctions? Now I have to change it back? Or will get the logo and Paypal option on future listings as long as I check it in my AW listing Preferences before submitting?

The options are:
---------------------------------------
Offer Paypal as a payment method in all my listings.

Tell Buyers that I prefer Paypal payments.

Include my items when buyers pay all their sellers at once using Paypal.
---------------------------------------

No option for "Offer Paypal on a case-by-case (Lot-by-Lot) basis."

Thanks, Sue

Sue

If the AW Listing Preferences are associated with a particular AW Auction Profile, creating a non-PayPal Auction Profile might solve this problem.

If you've set an eBay pref for PayPal, that will still override anything AW does, I think.

Re: Local Pickup; Paypal Prefs new [re: tictictic_OnEbay]

Sue,

there are a couple of settings which affect the Paypal logo appearing in your Auctions. One is at Paypal in your Profile. There is a setting to auto insert the Paypal logo. If you change your password, etc, the logo cannot be inserted.

One is in "My eBay | Preferences | Selling Preferences | Payment from buyers. that setting allows Paypal preferred to appear in your listing.

Paypal auto inserts the Paypal logo on your listings. If you don't want the logo to appear, you must uncheck it. but let me look and I will get back to you. If I remember correctly, you can exclude auctions at Paypal...I will have to check and see.

To choose Local pickup you will need to use "Specify Flat Rate shipping costs" for this auction site. "Pickup" is at the bottom of the drop down list. Is that what you did?

Sue,

Just got back from Paypal....

If the Paypal Preferred as well as the Paypal Logo are appearing, then your Paypal Auction tools perferences are set for those to be added to every listing. You can turn that off but no Paypal logo will appear on any of your auctions.

You can manually insert the Paypal logo on each auction, which is not very efficient. But it can be done.

I'll check something out and get back to you.

Re: Local Pickup; Paypal Prefs [re: tictictic_OnEbay]

Sue,

When you listed the Auction lot and removed Paypal as a payment option, did you receive any warnings from eBay stating that you could not remove Paypal as Paypal was set in your preferences to accept Paypal. And the Paypal email address could not be removed as well?? Because you had already specified Paypal as an acceptable method..

You can get local pickup to show up just fine listing with AW2000. If you use "Specify flat rate shipping cost for this site"... Choose "Pickup" then put $0.00 in the shipping cost field as well as the "Addt'l item ship" field.

The shipping cost shows up "Free" with a bold "Local Pickup only" right beside it.

However, removing Paypal as a payment option will require you to remove it as an option for every auction.

I just have to ask... Why do you not want Paypal payments for Local Pickup?

Re: Local Pickup; Paypal Prefs new [re: Ned]

Yeah, I think you're right, Ned; eBay overrides the AW pref.

And setting up a separate Profile for these Local-Pickup items is a good idea, but I don't see where I can set the Shipping Preferences for pickup only or for no Paypal. Is there a place I'm not seeing?

Thanks.

Re: Local Pickup; Paypal Prefs new [re: bluepennylady]

I changed my Paypal preferences only at eBay as a revision of this one auction. I guess I'll find out tomorrow, when I list more items, if this setting affects other listings (will do just one and see what occurs).

I didn't know Flat Rate Shipping dropped down to show Pickup. I never scroll down that far. LOL. So that would be a way to go with the separate Profile. Thanks, Judy.

Sue,

Sometimes there are hidden goodies just where you can't see them...Or in the right click

Be sure to add $0.00 to the Shipping cost field and Addit'l item ship field. Otherwise, your auction lot will fail.

Let us know what you find out after listing tomorrow

Re: Local Pickup; Paypal Prefs new [re: bluepennylady]

No, didn't receive any warnings when I revised the auction and reset my Paypal Preferences. Did get a warning when the item was listed -- something about Paypal will still show as an accepted payment option because that's what your Preferences dictate. Nothing about my Paypal email address in that warning.

Why? Well, this is a large piece of furniture (two pieces, top one with glass doors), so I do not want to crate and ship it. And I don't want Paypal taking a chunk out of the several-hundred-dollar payment, assuming it sells, of course. Just yesterday, I had it and three other pieces moved out of my house and into the garage where they are keeping my car from a nice, dry shelter. I just figured I'd give them one more go on eBay before moving them to my shop (which is already crammed full!). Nothing's selling! Another nearby mall just closed its doors. Doomsday for antique dealers, I'm afraid.

ue,

Gotcha... I understand completely.. about Paypal taking a chunk.... I really wish eBay would allow us to use Google Checkout too..

I hope your piece sells.
