Error since yesterday when listing on Ebay

Since yesterday I get errosr and failed listings on Ebay when using AW2K. Ebay's API reports 'shipping payment' error.

There is no error in my listings though. Anyone else?

Peter,

The Auction lots are failing? And the API report you are referring to is from the Failed Lots notepad?

Have you changed listing templates?

Re: Error since yesterday when listing on Ebay new [re: bluepennylady]

Judy,

No, we still use the same template we always use, without changes.

Also, when we try anew to list teh failed lots, but then each one separately, most of them go up. Occasionally one fails. Then we retry again and eventually all get to go up.

Listing this way is a pain though. Especially with 100+ items at the same time.

My suspicion is that Ebay's new mandatory listing requirements may have something to do with this. They now have software checking if sellers list with a shipping/handling rate, either flat or calculated. One is not allowed to have one's own table anymore.

We always had flat rates, so it should not have impacted us if AW2K was prepared for this..

PS
The API error # is 311 and the message says : You must select a shipping payment.

That message in itself is already very cryptic.

By the way, I looked at the Ebay developers site and there is a thread there about API error 311.

It seesm am occasional bug on Ebay. see:

Hopefully more reports of AW2K users get posted here.

Re: Error since yesterday when listing on Ebay new [re: leeflang]

Peter,

It does appear to be an eBay bug.. However, if you are using "tables" for shipping as opposed to specified shipping, I suspect that will cause the error now. The "Sell Your Item" form does not even offer the ability to insert your own shipping tables.

According to the announcements made in May by Kristina, Senior Shipping Director, specified shipping was going to be a must. Local pickup and Freight are the only two services for which no cost is allowed. There wasn't anything for AW2000 to do to be prepared for eBay requiring a seller to display shipping charges in their listing. It appears tables will no longer be allowed. And specified shipping is the only accepted option..

You might consider sending in the suggestion to the suggestion box for eBay to consider adding the option for inserted shipping tables. That is a really good idea...

I received the same error on one Auction lot which has Flat Rate shipping defined.. Submitting the Auction a second time allowed it to submit.

Let me know if you have any more errors.

Re: Error since yesterday when listing on Ebay new [re: bluepennylady]

Thanks, Penny.

The issue remains unresolved, although repeat individual listing will fix it most of the time, that is obviously no practical solution.

I am going to report this to AW2K, as it is reall their problem, being an API issue, and they should report it to Ebay Development.

As an aside, the 'inserted table' has always bene a dream, but I'm not holding my breath with Ebay, nor do I have the patience to wait for them any longer.

We'll have it on a site we are developing ourselves..

Peter,

The isse was reported to eBay. It appears to actually be more of a site glitch. Even glitches will return certain API errors.

I am experiencing the same issue on Flat Rate Shipping auction lots which are relists... I reported the issue to AW2000 tech.

I wonder if anyone else is having trouble too..???

Re: Error since yesterday when listing on Ebay new [re: leeflang]

Peter,

The error is an eBay issue not an AW2000 issue. The bug is on the eBay servers. Hopefully they will get it resolved soon and quickly.

With all the behind the scenes changes they are making, it is a wonder the eBay servers are not throwing more errors than they are.

Re: Error since yesterday when listing on Ebay new [re: bluepennylady]

Since yesterday this error disappeared, so it must have been Ebay.

However, since today I get another error, now when listing from AW2k.

The 2-step dialog confirms that it has updated the htm file in my image server and then, when step two is starting, so when it is ready to go display the secondary dialog for liisting on Ebay, I get instead a waring dialog across screne taht says that it is un able to list because another user is already listing.

However, the statement is untrue beacuse no other user is listing. I even tried shutting down our other network PC, so only one instance with AW2k woudl be running and it did not help.

Re: Error since yesterday when listing on Ebay new [re: leeflang]

Peter,

Have you restarted the server too? Someone had an error in your network and didn't tell you... Usually AW2K freezing up on a computer.. I had the exact same thing happen to me in our network just not too long ago.

If restarting the server and workstations does not correct it, you will need to contact Thom. He'll send you a file that will fix you right up... Be sure to run a quick scan on the server hard drive and defrag then try to list and see if that works first though.

Re: Error since yesterday when listing on Ebay new [re: bluepennylady]

Thanks for your help, Judy.

Thom just sent me fresh copies of the mutex.db and mutex.px files and, after I replaced those on the server in the database folder, everything works allright again.

Re: Error since yesterday when listing on Ebay new [re: leeflang]

Peter,

Yep Mutex tables will fix you right up. Thom is so good and man he is quick to help...

I don't know how your Windows Updates are configured on your computer, but something you might consider looking at, if you have not already, is to change the settings to "notify me when updates are available"
OR
"download updates but I'll decide when to install"

If the Windows update is automatically downloading and installing updates on any of the workstations or server, AW2K could be listing, the update install and restart the computer prior to AW2000 completing the listing process. Which corrupts the Mutex tables.

Just something to consider.
