Paypal notifications - links omitted new

Beginning about two weeks ago, the clickable links went missing from the payment notifications I get from Paypal.

I've asked about this on an eBay sellers group, and no one else seems to be having the problem. They keep saying to look in the upper corner, the links are there. But they aren't! So I'm beginning to think this might be peculiar to Auction Wizard users.

The "old" notifications had three links:

1. email the buyer
2. view the auction on eBay
3. go directly (assuming you're logged in) to the transaction page on Paypal

With the new format, the only clickable link is to Paypal Help, near the bottom of the page.

Is anyone else seeing this?

Sue,

Regardless of what they say, Paypal has altered the payment notification page. It is not the same. Not only is it changed but the font is much smaller than before.

It is not an AW2K issue. Aw2K has no control over the Paypal payment layouts. And the links worked before in Aw2K.

In the upper right hand corner there is a clickable "transaction id" number. That is the only clickable link. And that link does not take you to the transaction page unless you are logged into Paypal.

Hi Judy,

I wasn't referring to the Paypal payment details page. It's the email notifications I'm having problems with.

In reply to:

Assuming I'm logged in...... Used to be there was a link in the email notification that would take me directly to the transaction details page at Paypal. Now, that link is gone. The only way I'm going to be able to show you this is to forward one of the emails to you. So please look for it soon. Let me know if it looks the same as what you are receiving these days. The only clickable link in the email is near the bottom, to Paypal Help.

Thanks, Sue

Sue,

Yes please do forward me one.

I will tell you our Paypal email notifications are the pits. I do not like them at all. And nothing in the thing is clickable. We never check my Paypal account. We only look at the Paypal email notification. I was referring to that email notification.

I would really like to see one of yours.

Ok, on its way. Thanks.

So yours don't have links anymore either??? This is really strange, because the folks on the eBay discussion group (I'm probably the only AW user) are all saying their email notifications notifications still do have links directly to the Paypal transaction details page.

The one and only reason I visit the Paypal transaction page after getting a payment notification is to view the fee. Why, oh why doesn't Paypal include this info in the email? So do you just determine the fee mathematically? Or do you just wait till tax time and get a total from your Paypal History (not even sure the fees total is available as a search item)? I don't use the AW Ledger really, but I do record the fees in my Excel spreadsheet after a sale is complete.

Sue,

You are not the only one.. My Paypal email notifications started changing about two weeks ago. Then all the sudden last week, they were all in this new format, which we dislike. The shipping method is off to the side instead of down with the total paid. How retarded is that. Let's not put all the shipping information together, like method and amount paid o the same line. Let's make it so you have to scroll all over the email.

And then let's make the font so small that you can't hardly read it

No you are not the only one. On other boards other people are experiencing the same thing. And for the seller's that haven't seen the change yet, they will

Re: Paypal notifications - links omitted new [re: bluepennylady]

Ok, I realize Paypal messed with the payment notifications on February 18th, and we have to contain our frustration until they see fit to change them back. I just got off the phone with a Paypal supervisor (both agents I spoke to had what sounded like very controlled Russian accents) who said Paypal knows people don't like the new format, but until they get some specific number of complaints (a hundred? a thousand??), they won't change anything. He invited me to email executiveoffice@paypal.com.

But, Judy, something you said on this topic has me puzzled. You mentioned the font size. Here's an AuctionBytes article where it mentions font size as being one aspect of people's complaints:

http://blog.auctionbytes.com/cgi-bin/blog/blog.pl?/pl/2009/2/1235654261.html

I read all my auction-related mail within AW (I think we both use Pair.com to forward it to us), and I've assumed all along that AW is dictating the font style (I'm pretty sure it's Courier New), color, and size. But you mentioned the new smaller font size for the Paypal notifications, and it got me wondering how you see any formatting at all. AW strips away email formatting, doesn't it? I never receive formatted email. Obviously, I get links in various emails, but absolutely no formatting. So is there something I don't know here? Is there a way to received formatted email in AW?

Re: Paypal notifications - links omitted new [re: tictictic_OnEbay]

Sue,

I am so very sorry... Let me explain.

We have to print out payment notifications as well as packing slips. Remember I am working with staff. The shipping department prints off the payment notifications and the packing slips. The warehouse pulls the orders from the packing slips, packaging packs them and attaches the Paypal printout to the top of the package and shoots it over to the shipping/labeling computer.

SOOOOO,, since text can't be selected in AW2K, me being me, we use Outlook Express for printing out the payments. Hence the small font. And you are right, I hate it... So does my staff and their eyes are younger than mine

Most people don't print out the Paypal payment email notice. It is just easier for us to keep everything straight....

Sue,

I wanted to let you (and everyone else) know that I emailed Paypal using the executiveoffice@paypal.com link about the terrible new payment formatting.

I received a real reply this morning. not a canned email. Very surprised at that.... You are quite right, evidentally there are alot of people complaining big time about the new layout...

Re: Paypal notifications - links omitted new [re: bluepennylady]

Cool! I'm going to send my complaints as well -- the more the scarier.

By the way, thanks for explaining how it is you see the formatting in the emails. Makes sense now. I've been complaining about the missing links to another sellers forum, but no one uses AW, and they just figured I must be wacko. They probably are reading their Paypal mail in Outlook or OE.

Anyone using AW for their Paypal mailbox isn't seeing any links other than to Paypal Help. Finding the transaction by the buyer's name is not too difficult if you check soon after receiving each payment, but if a bunch of payments have come in, or if you need to locate an older transaction, that's a bit of a hassle without the direct links.

Sue
