The annoying new auction page format

As you know by now, I hate everything eBay decides to do.....

Not only does the new page format mess up my image and text placement (all the new empty space at the sides will soon be filled with thumbnails of other seller's items, apparently), but I can't find the buyer's zip code.

Yes, I know I can revert to the old page display and see the buyer's zip code, but that won't be the case next month (or whenever the change becomes permanent). I don't know about you guys, but I use that zip code to plug into the shipping calculator and get what I'll be charging my buyer. So if eBay has decided to no longer provide the buyer's zip, where do we get that info? Or is the zip shown somewhere on the new page design, and I'm just not seeing it?

By the way, I asked this question to a Yahoo Groups eBay Sellers group, but no one responded. They all use eBay's listing software to send invoices, so no one can figure out why I'm even asking. Seems like eBay is trying to make it more and more difficult and eventually impossible to use third-party management programs.

I only do fixed price, so maybe this doesn't apply....but...

There is a "Sold History" item which lists how many items have sold - it's under the seller info box - and if you click the number sold, it takes you to the purchase history.

That lists all the buyers, along with their zips

Hi Tradeguy,

I don't see exactly what you are seeing, apparently. Maybe it's the diff between Fixed Price and Auction Format, but you did make me look even harder (thanks for the nudge), and I found that if I click See History next to Bid history, the buyer's Location (zip code) is there. There's a mysterious asterisk next to the Location column heading -- can't see anything it refers to.

Then you go back to the auction page and click the "See more services" next to Shipping, paste in the zip, hit Enter (there's no Update button), and there it is -- the buyer's shipping cost. Ok, so that works, but it involves four more clicks and one more page view than it used to.................so this is progress?

Grumble, grumble.......

Sue,

I don't like the buyer information layout on the new pages either.

Some aspects of the new design will work well. I am not thrilled about the advertisements all over my listing pages. I don't believe eBay is listening very well

I do think the cleaner page will be easier to read. But if they fill up the real estate with ads I am not sure it will have the same impact. Might look like an unorganized yard sale or something..

I am glad you found the zip.

Hi!
I don't like the new format either! I click on "view order details" on the ebay page......right under "print shipping label".....that shows all the buyer information.
Hope that helps!

Thanks Mickey. I did finally find the buyer's zip code on that other tab. I was blinded by anger. LOL.

I guess we have to consider making all our listing templates with the images located left or right of our descriptions. Placing them at top or bottom with the description centered above or below will end up totally rearranged.
