Shipping information "Oops!" new

In the last few weeks, I get this warning whenever I revise an auction that has UPS as the carrier, but where my template inserts a large proviso telling bidders to ignore the UPS calculator, because I will ship via Fedex (always a few dollars cheaper and more convenient for me).

" Oops!
It looks like the shipping information in your item description conflicts with the options you selected in the listing form.

Be sure to provide consistent shipping costs and details throughout your listing. This will prevent confusion and likely result in higher detailed seller ratings from your buyer"

[ I hate that "Oops!" thing -- how demeaning! ]

Do you think they are trolling for words like Fedex or DHL? Do you suppose they are building up to prohibiting sellers from saying they will ship by anything other than USPS or UPS? If they do, I hope someone sues them.

And by the way, how do sellers get the "Freight" designation in their listings? Is that available only if you list with eBay's software?

I don't know what they are going to do about allowing sellers' to choose a different carrier than the options available now.

It is irritating to not be able to choose the carrier you like. And freight isn't currently supported. What we did when we listed . Used fixed price 30 day, listing using UPS and then went back and revised for freight on eBay. But we do not do LTL very often on line..

Is LTL Light Truck Load??

I have prospective bidders write and ask for trucking quotes. I tell them they can call around locally and can give the transport companies my phone number. I also provide a list of trucking outfits I've found online. I never hear back from them and they don't place bids. Sigh.

EBay needs to start their own freight service and give sellers a hugely good deal with the option of crating or blanket-wrap.

In the mean time, do you have a transport company you can recommend that will send trucks to the west coast?

Thanks, Sue

LTL stands for Less Than load... Only one to a few pallets.

We use Old Dominion alot for LTL. As well as Roadway and Yellow...

We have a few brokers that we contact if we need a LTL quote. But usually just contacting the trucking companies individually yields better results.
