Why open an Ebay store?

I'd like a simple explanation on the advantages of an Ebay store (the basic one). Now that I can list as 30 day and GTC without a store is there really much benefit? Is it easier to "manage" or do the listings show up better in search (or do they show up worse).
The benefit of the listing cost (as low as 3 cents) may be the best reason. Are there any other pros and cons? Any information would be very appreciated.

Re: Why open an Ebay store? new [re: lostsub]

HI,

I personally think an eBay store has to fit into an overall business plan and need.

For us, it is a perfect solution to keeping seasonal items online at a low cost. eBay store listings are fed to Google product shopping . Auction style listings are not. I am not sure if eBay feeds 30 Fixed price listings or not to google product shopping.

If eBay does not, the basic store subscription cost in itself is worth having items fed to Google shopping. About half of our traffic comes directly from Google product shopping.

If you are going to offer product on sites that do not have software support, such as Bonanzle, your store listings can be imported which greatly helps in populating a Bonanzle booth quickly.

The search results on eBay are so skewed by such diverse factors that electing to have a store based on search really isn't even a consideration. At least in my opinion anyway.

And if I can throw in something about using GTC listings. Google loves new content as do most search engines. If the listings never end, they become "old" content. On eBay those listings never move to the "ending soon" or "newly listed" and Google and Bing never see them as a "new" listing anymore. If the listings end and you wait at least 24 hours to list the store listing again, then the item is removed from Google product shopping search results. Then list the items again after a 24 hour period. Google will pick up the "new" content. And the listings show up in the "newly listed" results as well as in 30 days show up in "ending soon"..

Just something to consider.

Re: Why open an Ebay store? new [re: bluepennylady]

Could someone clarify this? I plan on opening and Ebay store (haven't yet). When I click on update Ebay store categories, this screen appears in AW2000 program.

"This will import the Store Category list from Ebay

NOTE: The Store Category list is shared by all Auction Profiles. The currect contents of the Store Category list will be replaced by the store category list retrieved from Ebay using the User ID "myuserID"

Do you want to proceed"

What does this exactly mean, and what will be affected? My normal listings or what? Thanks.

Hi

It sounds as if this is your first eBAy store, correct?

No worries. You do not have store categories assigned to anything yet. so there isn't anything to have a conflict with.

It only means that there can only be one store category for a single profile at a time. It isn't anything bad or anything like that. So no worries.

Does that help?

Re: Why open an Ebay store? new [re: bluepennylady]

Yes first store, but I have many listings constantly running on Ebay. I'm going to use the same ID to open my store, probably this weekend. I guess I'll wait until I open the store to post any more questions about any warnings AW2000 gives me. Maybe I take things too literally when I see warnings like that popup, but if things aren't crystal clear I get confused easily.

Hi

The listings you have currently running will not have any store category assigned. So you will need to assign the store categories you develop to them . You can do it enmasse using the Grid view if you like. Each auction lot can be assigned to two different store categories in conjunction with the eBay site category.

Have fun!

Make sure in create a new profile within Auction Wizard, selecting "Ebay Stores" for the Auction Site. Use your current username and password in Ebay.

Hi

You won't have to use the password as AW2000 uses the eBay API and requires you to authorize AW2000 to interact with eBAy on your behalf.

All will be well. just user id, complete all the fields on the Auction profile. Like feedback, email templates, listing templates, Auction duration, shipping options etc, just like you did for the eBay ...

And you are off and listing

With the changes coming should I still create an Ebay store profile, or is this going to become unnecessary very soon? Thanks.
