Not Collecting Sales Tax
|
|
|
I do not want to collect sales tax on certain items. I have created a no-tax Profile and removed all sales tax settings. I've also removed the eBay sales tax table for this particular selling ID (ditto at Paypal).
In the AW listing window, checking the box for 'Specify single tax rate" (which is currently blank/grayed out because I deleted the tax profile) doesn't fly -- I get this error: "The value in the sales tax field is invalid."
Checking the box for "Use tax table from My eBay" allows the Lot to post, but I get a warning: "You specified that the item should use a tax table, but the seller has no tax table defined on eBay. The item was listed with no sales tax." So the item gets listed ok, and there's no blurb about sales tax on the auction page, but do I have to get that warning every time?? How do you folks who don't collect sales tax set this up?
I vaguelly recall when you first install AW, it asks you about sales tax. Is it possible to set up the AW Program Options so it does not look for sales tax info for any Profile?
Thanks, Sue

Sue,
Hummm, now this one I will have to think about for a bit...
Have you attempted to simply not check either sales tax option on the lister window?
The other thing that comes to mind is to use Specifiy single tax rate and enter in a 0.00% value.

As far as I can tell, you can't uncheck them both. This is where I wonder if the installation settings come into play -- once you tell AW you're going to impose sales tax, you're stuck with it -- ??
Specifying a single tax rate and entering zero results in the error: "The value in the sales tax field is invalid."

Sue,
I am unable to locate where in the setup process that you determine you are always going to charge sales tax. That option is defined per Auction profile and per item.
But I will check and find out.

Sue,
Use "Specify single tax rate" option on the Lister with a value of 0.00% and select the state to None.
That works. Just tested it

Success! Thanks.
I just didn't see the option "none" for the state. I tried backspace, delete, and rightclick to remove the state, but I never scrolled to the top of the dropdown list. Duh!
Thanks again. Sue
