Exclude Etsy Lots from Auction Gallery?

It just occurred to me that when people click the link to view my Auction Gallery (does anyone ever actually click that link? I'll never know), the Lots I've moved to Etsy are on the list, and if clicked, they show as "no such listing" on eBay. Is there an easy way to exclude those Lots from my eBay Auction Gallery?

The only way I can think of to do this right now would be to scroll down the list in the Upload Websites window and use the Remove Lot button for all those with a Close Date in the far future (the Etsy lots stay online for four months). But that would be tedious, and all the more so as I move more and more things over to Etsy from my languishing eBay Store.

Thanks, Sue

P.S. Nobody's posted to this section of the Forum for almost exactly a year -- does anyone use an AW website these days?

Yes I most definitely use the AW2K generated website. And there is a great deal of traffic from the uploaded site.

Just go into the template manager and remove the lot page.

OR duplicate the template, and turn into pure html, then change the link to the eBay page to an email address so the viewer can contact you directly.

Re: Exclude Etsy Lots from Auction Gallery? new [re: bluepennylady]

I'm afraid to mess with it unless I understand exactly what you are recommending.

Do you mean in the Html Template Manager, Show Templates of Type Website Lot Page, to delete the one I'm using? There are only two templates showing in that window -- the one I created and one of the built-in AW sample templates. If I delete the Lot page, will my eBay Lots still show up?? If so, why do I have the Website Lot Page template?

In case it's pertinent, in the Show Templates of Type Website Thumbnail Page, there are four templates listed:

1. an AW sample template
2. My Gallery background
3. another version of the same background (I don't even know which one I'm actually using, so I'm afraid to delete either of them)
4. one titled My Gallery Thumbnails

And I don't even actually know which template I'm using. When I view the source code of the Gallery, is there a command line that indicates which template I'm using?

And if I select the option to convert to HTML, you said to "change the link to the eBay page to an email address so the viewer can contact you directly."

Do you mean the link on my eBay listing pages? Sorry, I'm totally confused by this. You mean change the link text or the link itself? I'd have to edit a zillion listing templates.

AW websites in general (was Exclude Etsy Lots) new [re: bluepennylady]

Something else about AW websites I've been meaning to ask......

★ Is there a way to set up your website template to always align text centered, even when it's aligned left in whatever listing template was used?

★ And how do you determine how many hits your AW website gets? Is it just a matter of adding a Page Component, selecting Type HTML, and entering the code for a counter? Counters have to be hosted somewhere, don't they? I'm so clueless about this stuff.

And even more questions occur to me.......

★ I have a not-ready-for-prime-time template that has been viewable online for years, but I have not uploaded/updated any of the Lots it refers to since I initially created it. Now I'm finally ready to update its content. The domain is the same as the domain for my eBay email address, but only a very tiny number of people would ever think to try it as a URL, so I have no idea how to promote the website's existence. I'd love to promote it from Etsy, but I have an idea that's verboten. I could include a link on my blog (along with the already-in-place links to my eBay and Etsy listings), but I keep reading about bloggers who are using free hosts being shut down when links take visitors to commercial sites. Any ideas here, Judy?

Thanks a bunch,
Sue

First just locate one of the website listing templates. not a listing template..

Duplicate the website template,

Then open it up in "Edit'
And use Convert to pure HTML.

That way you can locate the hyperlink to an eBay page and insert your email address instead. you would use

a href=mailto: to create the email address link.

You can change anything you want. Like the title almost always says Auctions by xxxxx

Change the Auctions to maybe just "items by" or Product or whatever works for you.. The field tags for the user id and title line work just great.

You can change font face, the colors etc. make it look just like what you want.

Then after the website template is edited, just use it for the Auction lots you want to upload to your own website

I hope that helps.

Yes the text can be aligned left, center or right.. You can also do that in the HTML ...

I use Google analyticals on my own website. It is completely free. just paste the tracking code in as their instructions. Be sure to setup filters for your own computers so they are not counted when you check your website.

I think you will be surprised at the amount of traffic you get. As well as what buyers are interested in. i have about 30 AW2000 generated websites in my company website. I can monitor the trends by tracking buyer click behavior in Google analyticals.

Plus all the keywords and top landing pages. Unbelievable what people use to find something. I just did a presentation in Kansas City, Mo on August 7 about how to use part of Google analyticals data. It was filmed and uploaded to youTube.

Oh yes, if you don't want to use the Lot pages, just unclick the Use lot pages option ..

About blogs. I use blogger which is a Google property..

I have an RSS feed on it,, links to my facebook and twitter account. So anytime I blog the information is pushed out to those accounts. They are linked using twitterfeed.com Easy as pie to setup.

I used rssfeedreader.com to build the RSS feed for my Bonanzle booth. I have to get off dead center and build the feed from my eBay listings as well. There is a ton of traffic to blogs,.

My blog stats are up 202.50% in the last month over the previous month. The hits are directly related to postings. The more relevant the posts and posts that contain relevant links push up higher.

Something else

When editing a pure html template, paste the original code into Notepad so you have the code handy if you need to replace it again. I use notepad all of the time for saving code to fiddle with and see how it works,

Re: AW websites in general (was Exclude Etsy Lots) new [re: bluepennylady]

Just a huge thank you for all this. It'll take me a while to digest all the info and try to make use of it. But I'll work on it for sure.

I'm using Wordpress.com, and so far my blog is visited routinely by two people...........my daughters! LOL. My blog content needs more sex and violence, I guess. I've had it going only a few weeks, and it's amazing to see what sites refer back to my blog -- risky/nasty sites I wouldn't even want to view! Strange.

Thanks again, Sue

Gawd, why can't any of my friends or neighbors know as much as you do about HTML and the internet!

I am not real familar with Wordpress. I do know that google really likes wordpress though.

You might want to check wordpress bells and whistles to see if they provide a "Follow' option to include in the sidebar..

Then add a link to your blog home page to your AW2k shipping notices and feedback thank you email template. People may follow you which is what you want to happen.

If I lived close I would just hop right over and give you a hand
