Updating Websites

I have encountered this issue for quite awhile but have just worked arounded it.
When listing items, after i go through everything you get the "Want to update websites?" window. If I click yes it starts the process but eventually stalls out and AW2K locks up. So I have to open the task manager and end AW2K from there.
However if i answer NO to the update i can go up to Tools>Update Websites and it will go through the process with no problems.
So that is how I deal with it all the time now.

Any one else see this, or is it just me?

Nope I haven't had that happen before. That is strange.

I use to have a computer that would do that when listing and going from one profile to another. So I had to list one profile, then the next individually. It was a pain.

But changed the configuration settings as to what was running in the background and that stopped that.

So have you checked to see how much stuff is running in the background of your computer? It might not be it but wouldn't be a bad place to start.

Judy,

Wouldn't doubt it being my computer, it's been acting strange for a while as well!
I still have trouble viewing the "new" item page once in a whille too. And it just comes and goes willy nilly with no rhyme or reason. But I do think I narrowed it down to remnant McAfee stuff so maybe there's a connection.

But I will give the background check a "look see"!
If I ever take the time to figure it out i will post a solution!
The work around has become pretty second nature tho so I am not going to spend too much time. Just thought someone may have had the same issue.
Thanks,

Marty

AHHH, yes good 'ole McAfee... Disabling antivirus prior to uploading the websites will help. Or adding the AW2000 folder to the exclusions ..

Judy,

Yeah that's the bazaar thing is that i don't use McAfee anymore for antivirus, well for any protection. It is just those nasty leftovers that NEVER seem to get uninstalled.
I will check my current protection for exclusion inclusion!

You can edit the registry and remove the McAfee registry key. And if I remember correctly I think McAfee has a removal tool that uninstalls and cleans the registry.

the other thing you can do is use Eusing free registry cleaner. It is freeware, donation software. We use it. I got it from a computer technican that uses it to clean up computers. So far it has worked on my machines. Been using it a year or so.

Re: Updating Websites new [re: moonstruck22]

I've never had this exact problem, but I wonder if it's just a log-in or time-out problem with your FTP host. About every other day, when I'm uploading images for Lots I'm about to list, the upload stalls. If I just sit here, it eventually times out. If I click to Abort, then right away click again to List Queued Lots, the images upload fast and easy.

So maybe what you are seeing is actually just that the second attempt to log into your FTP host does the trick. Maybe it's nothing to do with your starting point for the Update of your website (from the prompt after listing versus Tools: Update Websites); maybe that's just a coincidence.

Re: Updating Websites new [re: tictictic_OnEbay]

Sue,

Could be who knows really.
I have gotten so used to clicking "no" and going to the Tools menu that it is just every once in awhile i try to aggravate myself and click yes and w.............a.................i...........t!

I will have to say that when uploading images, seems to always work just fine uploading, knock on wood!
You've got me talking about it so it probably will raise it's ugly head!

Thanks for the tip though!
