Update to Feedback removal at eBay

Hi, all,

Dinesh released a very important update concerning text that needs to be included in each listing, that is if you ship Internationally.

Here is a link to his post:

http://www2.ebay.com/aw/core/200901.shtml#2009-01-08120030

Bottom line, if you want to be protected from neutral or negative feedback from International buyers who are hacked at you because of the Custom/Duties taxes and the fact you won't mark the package as "Gift", this is what you have to do..

The following text, or very similar wording, must be included in the listing and be:

In the format below
In a font size no smaller than the majority of the other text in the item description
Prominently displayed (in the upper half of the description, free-standing, etc.)

“International Buyers – Please Note:

Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility.
Please check with your country’s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying.”

In addition, sellers may wish to include additional helpful statements for their buyers, such as:

“These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (shipping) company or when you pick the item up – do not confuse them for additional shipping charges.”
“We do not mark merchandise values below value or mark items as ‘gifts’ - US and International government regulations prohibit such behavior.”

Displayed in the upper portion of a listing does not mean you must include it in every description field. The footer area of your Listing template will work just fine. So if something changes in another 4 weeks, one change will apply globally instead of you needing to edit every single description field.

To add the text to the footer area of your Listing template, go to Tools on the menu and select
HTML template manager.

Find your listing template and click on the "Edit" button

when the editor opens, click on "Page Body"
That is where the "Header" and "Footer" are located.

You can enter in the required text into the Footer area, then Preview it so you can be sure it looks like you want it to.

If the text "crowds" your description and you want to move it down a line or two, just put a page break in.

Easy as pie...

Happy selling!
