Empty Ship Cost field = Free Shipping?

I listed a Fixed Price Store item today and inadvertently left the Shipping Cost blank. This resulted in its showing up as Free Shipping even though that wasn't selected (the Shipping Service drop-down said First Class, but no $ amount was typed in).

[And wouldn't you know, it sold right away, and I'm going to be lucky to break even.]

Is this how it's always been with AW -- if the Cost field is empty, the Lot gets listed as Free Shipping? It doesn't throw an error to warn you like it does if the Listing Template is blank? Seems like we should have to actually select Free Shipping for the Lot to be listed that way.

This is a brand new warning message.

Use to if the field was blank, it would not list unless the "Free Shipping" checkbox was selected.

I had the exact same issue today. It was not happening early this morning as I have listed several times today. It just started about noon or so.

My guess more eBay changes. I did email tech about it though.

A warning message would have been good, but I didn't get one. The Lot listed with nothing in the Ship Cost field, and eBay interpreted that as Free Shipping (fortunately the package weighed just under 13 ounces, so I didn't have to pay for Priority all the way across the country -- phew!).

I think you are saying they just today instituted a warning about this -- ?? So eBay won't allow the item to be submitted without a figure in the Shipping Cost field now?

I am so sorry. Sometimes my eye teeth can't see what I am saying

What I meant was there has evidently been something change at eBay today because in the past an empty shipping cost field would fail not list. I did get a warning in AW2000. The failedlots notepad had all the warnings lined up. That is how I knew something had changed. The warning codes are totally new.

I am going to see how it goes tomorrow and see if there are any more list like that.
