AW is moving slow

Since the last AW update I am finding that when I use the > function at the top left of the toolbar, under file, edit, format...
it takes 20-25 seconds to show the next record. It has always been fast in the past. Any thoughts?

HI

Have you tried using the Page up or page down key on the keyboard instead to see if it accesses the next record more quickly?

Hi Judy,
Yes, there is no difference. Just sits there for 20-25 sec before going to next page/listing.

HI

I have not experienced that lag on my machines.

What anti virus and/or internet security software are you using?

Norton, have been using both for the whole time. All other programs appear to be running ok.

Re: AW is moving slow new [re: auctionboyusa]

HI

Check to be sure the AW2000 folder is excluded from being scanned in Norton's exclusions list. One of my machine's anti virus software had to be re-configured again after the update to stop the files from being scanned. Scanning the database files each time they are accessed really slows down performance.

Give that a try and see how it works.

Ok, I have placed in the excluded list. It was not there. I am going to restart and see where it goes. I will let you know.

HI

Please do let us know.

Adding C:\Aw2000\Database to the exclusions will make a huge difference in the performance...

You can also try running the Database Rebuild (do a back up first) and also a scan disk and a disk defrag. I always get better performance when I do those things.

Bob,

Yes thank you for suggesting that. It is always a good idea to do performance maintenance on your computer.

In this particular case, they did find the AW2000 folder was not in the anti virus exclusions list. So everytime they were trying to work with AW2000, Norton was scanning everything greatly reducing performance..
