How to restore a backup
|
|
|
I just had posted 93 auctions and all of a sudden the auction Lots page went blank. I had to shut down the computer and bring it back up. I only have 3 auction lots listed out of over 400. I had done a backup on 12-3-10. So how do I go about getting the backup on the program so that I can use that. Everything else is okay, the way it looks. Thanks!

Hi
Thank goodness for backup!
Close AW2000,
Go to Start > Programs > Aw2000 > restore backup. Navigate to the backup and click on it Then OK
AW2K will restore the data from the most recent backup.
YOu will need to import the listings that are on eBay because they won't be in the backup.. And then correct them in terms of adding images etc. But they will be in your database.. Run another backup.
You should scan the hard drive for errors and run a defrag as well

thanks for this information. I have another question about restoring backups. When I asked you this question I had a computer with XP windows on it. Now I got a new computer and it has Windows 7 on it. I backed up all my files to a Go-Flex Desk Seagate backup. However, when I put my files on the new computer, they are not in the same location as what is called for on Windows 7.
I have a backup file "12-27-2010.a.2b" located under My documents/auctions, which is from my old computer. When I go to Programs/aw2000/restore I am unable to access the file douments where the backup copy is.
HELP!

HI
Vista and windows 7 no longer have the documents and settings directory..
Locate the backup in the Windows 7 windows explorer first.. Go to the world start button right click on it and select Explore
That will get you into the windows explorer.. you will be in the Start menu but that is okay.. go back up to Local disk C,, expand out C if needed and locate Users,
Click open users and see if the backup is there.
If it is not, then go back to Start and in the search box, type in the backup file you are looking for. See where the file ended up .. Then you will know where to look for it in the Restore dialog box.. If needed you can move the backup file somewhere easier for you to locate..
You can navigate around in your computer in the Restore utility by clicking the C drive in the left side pane.. it will show all the folders and files on your computer
See if that gets you fixed up.. If not, holler at me again..
