I received a reply to my complaint to executiveoffice@paypal.com:
Thank you for contacting PayPal. When we updated our system, it caused some glitches. This happens to be one of them. It is not a permanent part of our transaction history. Our IT department is actively working on fixing the situation.
I apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your input on this particular issue.
